...having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world.

ABOUT ME

I am currently studying Spanish at the University of Oviedo and teaching in my spare time. In my spare, spare time, I read, write, and spend time with my girlfriend. Watching movies, hanging out, hiking and doing active things when we can, you know, stuff.

PHILOSOPHY

From Moby-Dick: “For, d’ye see, rainbows do not visit the clear air; they only irradiate vapor. HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to this. I have heard many positive things about CouchSurfing and I am excited to embark on this new journey. I am learning the ropes and finding out what ways I can involve myself in this community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had any CouchSurfing™ experiences yet, but I have slept on couches. My friend had a broken air mattress once and it would slowly deflate throughout the night, and you would wake up surrounded by a half-inflated air mattress, but your back on a hardwood floor.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently reading C by Tom McCarthy (it's awesome). The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy (no relation), White Noise by Don DeLillo, and 2666 by Roberto Bolaño are among some of my favorites.

I used to be a DJ at the hippest radio station in Connecticut, WHUS. I've been listening to Washed Out, Guided by Voices, Galaxie 500, and Weezer recently. I like anything from Hank Williams to disco to Boris.

Two of my favorite movies are Splendor in the Grass and The 400 Blows. Recently, The King's Speech.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stone Mountain? I dunno, I was four or five when I saw it.

More recently, I went to Dublin and London, and that was awesome.
