I am someone who loves to meet new people, to share with them knowledge, culture, happiness and of course a glass of wine too :)). Being an indian, we have been tought since childhood to respect whosover comes to our home and to share with them whatever little we have. I somehow feel that Couchsurfing has been formed on the same principle and this is one of the reasons why i am here. I am 26 years of age based in one of the most beautiful cities in India that is Chandigarh. This city has a very strong affiliation with france since the architect who gave us this heaven to reside comes from france. I have enjoyed my college days to the hilt, I have been into music and still taking it further, i love reading and writing. I love travelling and getting to know different people. Ah.. there is lot more but i think some things are better said and shared than written.:))
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am doing this because i find this idea of hosting and being hosted really novel. It provides us the opportunity to come out of the veil of a tourist and to step into the shoes of a native. We get to live the life of the citizens of the country, to know them closely, to cherish their culture by being an active part of it. At the other end we don't really have to shell out much on the stay rather we can utilize the same amount on partying with the hosts, to buy them souvenirs, to go out with them to the lesser known places which are equally beautiful when compared to the well know tourist places and in some cases more beautiful than them. Only a native can take you there.
I am someone who loves to read, write and listen. Having done my Masters in English, I have read numerous books of fiction, drama, tragic-comedies of the Great Shakespeare, a little part of the American literature too. Since i am working now for past 3 years, it has become a little difficult to spare time for this but somehow i still manage to find time for myself. There is lot more in life than becoming a workaholic. I love playing guitar. I have been playing it since my college days and i still derive immense pleasure from stroking the six strings for my friends & family and on special occasions. I simply can't do without music. I wonder what the world would have been had there been no music. French is a real boon in my life. J'aime beaucoup parler francais meme si je ne suis pas alle en france meme une fois. Je realiserais mon reve tres bientot dont je suis sure et J'espere que Courchsurfing m'aiderait de le realiser.
Music, Movies, and Books
When i was in college i loved to listen to Metallica, Linkin Park, American Idiots, Eminem and the list goes on. Michael Jackson's songs have always been in my playlist. I love listening to Glen Hansard, the passanger and Poets of the fall. From the movies that i have watched till date, I love Serendipity, Incendie, Love likes coincidences, Jean de florette and many more. Among the books I loved the thousand splendid suns, Kite Runner, The God of small things, The English Teacher, The Scarlet letter, Hard times etc.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teaching is considered to be the most noble profession and i sincerely believe in this. Learning is a never ending process. Each day is a new learning. So we should never hesitate in learning and it can come from anywhere or from anything. There is no charm in learning if you can't share it. As we say here in india, the more we share, the more comes back to us.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share with the hosts my experiences, my travel stories. I can share with them the vibrance of my country and the richness of its culture. I can share there sorrows if there are any and be glad to share their happiness too. We all are habitants of the same global village and are connected to each other in one way or the other. So what is yours is mine and what is mine is yours..:"))
