About Me
I am from a rural backgroud I did a practical training and then a professional training in Engineering then became more interested in Education.
Became a Seminar instructor and Presenter where I Did some media work
Became a carer for a family member who was ill , then got involved in property where although retired , I maintain an interest.
Through another organisation I provide food and accommodation and English immersion in my family and friends and English practice in return for 25 hours of help per week. Normally five hours five days a week. Thanks to their hard work and commitment , Many of those who came to be with me have gone on to full professional employment in the UK after living in my home environment and come back to assist with the new learners
As a human being , I am a widower father of five grown up and independent adults
I generally regarded as good fun and sociable. I and my family have lots of experience in having an open house.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I can offer a non discriminatory place to stay
When I travel in UK and wider Europe I use an "Off Grid"stealth camper I sometimes need a bed for the night, often within a city if I have left my van out of town. I also enjoy meeting with local people whether or not need a couch.
I am happy to meet with people who want to practice speaking and listening to English language.
I have a family home in Blairgowrie, Perthshire in Scotland and a happy little flat tucked in the shadow of edinburgh Castle
Interests
My Family has been my main interest . Along with that, People, Anthropology, TED , Podcasts.,Theatre,Selective about films and music.
Recently taken to calligraphy which has led to first steps in drawing and painting.
I'm inspired by people like Robert Macfarlane and Wade Davis who's words have resonated in my head since I heard him say on TED "what does it mean to be human and to be alive"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Brought up five kids through to fulfilled adulthood and have managed to keep a substantially open Mind and not be dependant on my family for my fulfilment.
I have explored many landscapes and places not necessarily remote or difficult to get to
The difficulty I challenge is the practice of actually "being " where I am and in experiencing the "moment". Meditation helps with this.
I have always enjoyed dancing particularly Scottish country dancing but , thanks to YouTube , I am touring Europe to find folk dancers in Romania, Bulgaria Moldova and the Black Sea coast of Turkey and anywhere else that the universe leads me
I’ve also learned calligraphy and thanks to couch surfer who . I hosted , from Turkey I’m going as their guest to Turkey to learn Ebru from a master who is related to him..
