About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To wander through places and through life

ABOUT ME
Some people calculate the money they earn in terms of the number of shoes/clothes/watches/cars it enables them to buy. I do that with travel. I love the feeling of all your senses on high alert, of soaking in new experiences you did not know even existed. I get itchy feet every now and then, and feel the bittersweet city life a wee bit stifling. That's when friends who love to travel as much, the boy and I take off, be in through a bike ride along the gorgeous Konkan coastline, heading to the hills, or exploring new countries in which everything is new.

I work as a features writer with Grazia India, a fun job that allows me to meet and write about interesting and inspiring people and trends. I live in New Bombay (suburb of Mumbai) with the boy. I love to read, write, pull out gorgeous sentences from books, dance, meet up with the most amazing bunch of people I call friends, and chalk out my next trip.

PHILOSOPHY

We are all together in our solitude

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted Pablo D from Argentina for a couple of nights. Surfed at Jaipur (India), Zurich (Switzerland) and Strasbourg (France) - each of which turned out to be a beautiful experience. Update as of May 2016 - just hosted the girl who hosted me in Zurich!

Interests

Writing, knowing tiny seemingly-insignificant details about other cultures, travelling, snoozing on every possible mode of transportation, gifting, being gifted, horse riding (wish to learn), lying on an isolated beach for hours, sunsets in foreign lands, meeting people with stories of their own, becoming a more non-judgemental person, laughing

Music, Movies, and Books

I do not listen to much music. That's only because I am terrible at multi-tasking and I'd rather read a book than listen to music at any given point, and not because music doesn't move me. I love all sorts of movies, from disturbing, psychotic thrillers that leave me sleepless for nights, to sappy romances. I have started watching world cinema only since the past five years and I love watching movies with sub-titles, though I can't say I have watched as many as I would like. And books. They are really my best friends. I wish I were a faster reader because there's just SO much to read out there. But yes, if there's one thing I really devour - it's books, from fiction to fables to fantasy, from Dickens to Desai to Dahl.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Snorkelled among the Japanese ships sunken in the waters around Coron (Philippines)
- E-biked around Heidiland in Switzerland
- Went on a bike ride from Mumbai to Goa, along the gorgeous Konkan coastline; saw baby Olive Ridley turtles find their way into the ocean; stumbled upon never-heard-of forts and lighthouses; beach bummed
- Explored the 7km-deep Krem Mawmluh cave in Shillong
- Ran up and down the Living Roots bridges in Shillong
- Rode in a sky plane over Dubai

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United States
