About Me

hey there, my name is diana! i'm looking to experience as much of this strange and wonderful trip called life has to offer. lover of all things art.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

i would like to meet others with common interests while away, as company makes traveling and experience so much richer.

conversely, since i've been on the platform, i've experienced so much generosity and kindness and beautiful moments, i would love to pay it forward to someone else in my own home city of los angeles. it can be an overwhelming and maybe underwhelming place in many ways to travelers who simply don't know better, and i think compared to say, new york or san francisco, los angeles gets a bad reputation because it's not very accessible or tourist friendly. but as unruly as she is, LA is enchanting to many for a reason and i'd love for everyone to find out why. i think it's a place you need to know someone to show you around, so i would love to be that friend for someone else :)

Interests

i think every moment has something remarkable about it, something almost miraculous. each second literally brings some new-ness with it, although it all may seem familiar. part of that is the reason why i find interest in everything. you can get lost in the beautiful details of the world or in the crevices of your imagination.

Music, Movies, and Books

i'm pretty open to most things musically. amongst my favorite genres is rock and roll, the classic stuff, like eric clapton, the kinks, etc, just about anything from the 60s and 70s. lately i've been listening to a lot of jazz and shoegaze and alternative. i'm the biggest audiophile and go to live shows religiously. i usually use it as an excuse to travel too, like last december i went to washington dc to see thom yorke from radiohead perform just because.

as big a music fan as i am, i hardly ever watch movies. somehow i find a two-hour movie to big a commitment but i'll binge watch a TV series in a night. go figure.

i love love love literature. book-wise, i've made it my mission to read all the classics. hardly scratching the surface, but it'll happen. currently reading "zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance" and delving into some sci fi stuff, like ray bradbury and isaac asimov.

(update 2022: some of this is outdated, i'm reading new things, listening to even more varied music, however i still cannot sit still and watch a movie to save my life lol)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

enough about me, what about you?

Teach, Learn, Share

speaking of teaching and learning, i've been an educator for the majority of my adult life, teaching everyone from little kids to college students. helping others learn and grow academically is one of my many passions. hoping to teach english abroad very soon!

What I Can Share with Hosts

i think the most valuable thing you can give someone is your time and with that said, i'm willing to be good company and be in good company. and maybe also share a drink or two!

of course, also my own home should they find themselves in sunny la 🌞

ALSO-- please don't let my response rate scare you, feel free to reach out! i just happen to be very busy and bad at communicating at times. lots of requests come in and i simply cannot respond to them all. please send a sincere message when you reach out to be considered. however, if i can host you, i will be glad to do so and give you a slice of life here.
