About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to find inspiration everywhere and hoping I can provide inspiration for others as well.

ABOUT ME

I'm told that I'm pretty funny but I think that's only according to people who appreciate sarcasm. Not every day is full of sunshine and rainbows but I find it's always best to try and brighten things up with some laughter. One thing I've found to be very true is 'you don't attract what you want, you attract what you are.'

PHILOSOPHY

*how people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours
*it's okay to be angry but it's never okay to be cruel
*the best decision you can make is to be in a good mood
*be the change you want to see in the world
*I've always thought anyone can make money. Making a life worth living, that's the real test
*To be human is to keep rattling the bars of the cage of existence hollering "what's it for?"
*What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal
*If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another
*If we are to teach real peace in this world and if we are to carry on a real war with war, we shall have to begin with the children
*A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent doing nothing
*I like flowers. I also like children, but I do not chop off their heads and keep them in bowls of water around the house
*Though all society is founded on intolerance, all improvement is founded on tolerance
*The secret of forgiving everything is to understand nothing
*Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got a hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it onto future generations
*Suppose the world were only one of God's jokes; would you work any the less to make it a good joke instead of a bad one?
*Except for the nine months before he draws his first breath no man manages his affairs as well as a tree does
*We have no more right to consume happiness without producing it than to consume wealth without producing it
*Life does not cease to be funny when people die anymore than it ceases to be serious when people laugh
*No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it
*When the last tree is cut, when the last river is emptied, when the last fish is caught, only then will man realize that he cannot eat money
*If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there would be peace
*Mans greatest blunder has been trying to make peace with the skies instead of making peace with his neighbors
*Fighting for peace is like f***ing for chastity
*One minute of patience, ten years of peace
*The future can be anything we want it to be, providing we have the faith and that we realize that peace, no less than war, requires blood, sweat and tears

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started an account several years back and never used it but couchsurfing came in really handy when I got stranded across the country. Not only did I meet some incredible people to stay with but 2 of my hosts came and visited me afterwards so I got the opportunity to return the favor!

Interests

-My dogs. They're so awesome and I love taking them out for walks/hikes, especially in places that are a bit more remote where I can let them run off leash. I can be having a bad day and watching their goofy asses run around is guaranteed to make me laugh and I just love being outside, especially in a place with a lot of trees.

-Food. I'm a mostly pescetarian and most-of-the-time vegan but that doesn't mean that I don't absolutely love stuffing my face with amazing food. It's even better when you have a few awesome friends that you can exchange food with. Cooking isn't something that I absolutely love but I'm big on food that is homemade and not over-processed so I try to find new things that keep me interested and busy in the kitchen.

-Humanism. I can't for the life of me understand why people are so awful to one another but I love anything to do with people being good to other people just because. Unfortunately I don't have that diehard spirit to be a martyr for the cause but I like to find ways to subtly keep reminding people that kindness is free.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music : mostly classic rock, Motown and 90's rock but I've been exploring more new avenues

Movies : top 2 - Drop Dead Fred and Willow

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably not the most amazing thing I've done but a few years ago I really wanted to go camping and couldn't find anyone to go with me so I just packed my sack, grabbed my dogs, and headed out into the woods. For years there were many things that I wanted to do but couldn't find people who wanted to join me and I let that keep me from doing a lot of awesome stuff but now I've realized that although good company is nice to have it isn't essential to having a good time.

In fall 2016 I went with a friend to California only to have her leave me there by myself. I was about to freak out, but then I rented a car so I could check out Flagstaff (since I was interested in moving there) and the Grand Canyon, then I spent a few days visiting in San Francisco. My trip definitely didn't go as planned and I had to vacation alone but it was way better than going home and being upset. I ended up having a totally epic vacation and used couchsurfing for the first time!

Teach, Learn, Share

After having overcome obstacles of my own, whenever I find someone going through similar struggles to the ones I've experienced I feel this need to try and help them on their journey so that it doesn't have to be as hard for them as it was for me. When I meet someone who wants to start eating healthier but doesn't know where to begin I love loading them up on information to help them make better decisions. A huge one for me is teaching people that you don't need a relationship to be happy. So many people feel lost and lonely if they don't have someone to share their life with and I think that is such a big misconception in our society that really needs to be broken. Being 'in love' provides a false sense of security and not having romantic love shouldn't keep people from experiencing all the other love out there that life has to offer.

I want to learn about so many things, let me know what you have to offer!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm awesome at cleaning, I make some badass granola bars and veggie wraps, and I'm a great person to stay up with until the wee hours of the night drinking wine and talking about the finer things in life, or making fart jokes. Your choice. :-D
