About Me
CURRENT MISSION
see, do, breathe, feel, experience
ABOUT ME
I'm originally from New York, but living in Copenhagen right now as part of an exchange program. It's my first time in Europe and I'm on a mission to see as much of it as possible while I'm here (like most other study abroad students, ha). Current strategies involve exploring random alleys and prying open closed doors. It can be awkward at times, but always leads to great discoveries.
My favorite part of traveling is meeting the people along the way- whether they're crazy, funny, well-traveled, etc. you always remember the people you spend a day, a night, a few hours with. not so much the buildings and landmarks!
I'm studying architecture, but I'm more interested in international development and non-profit work. Traveling as much as possible helps me to see what's out there and what can be changed.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to live day to day without much concern for the future (this frightens my parents). But I believe that everything pretty much falls into place when you look away for a bit.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mainly surfing for now since I'm traveling a lot. I hope to host in the future when I'm more settled.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A few times now and it's all been wonderful. hope to continue :)
Interests
I love hiking, camping, backpacking, and pretty much anything else that gets me into the wilderness. I would love to get more into rock climbing and more intense mountaineering.
I also love anything that has to do with water. Oceans, rivers, beaches, sand, scuba diving, and everything else. I've only dived in Tanzania, but hope to explore the underwater regions of the rest of the world.
FOOD.. I read a lot of food blogs, but just recently got into cooking because of my semester abroad. It's been fun to just throw things together and I'm learning to stray away from recipes. I'm not vegetarian, but I don't each much meat and try to stay dairy-free. I've gotten really interested in local food and farming recently and would love to explore it more.
I have a love and hate relationship with architecture (like most other architecture students), but spaces can be so great. I'm obsessed with churches. They are always so grand and make you feel so small. I've been indulging my obsession here in Europe and love it (oh, Vilnius, Lithuania!). I really love film photography and portraits, but don't have much time for it anymore. Definitely want to get back into it!
And I generally love anything that makes me smile (doesn't take much) and finding things in nooks and crannies.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I like mostly everything I see, although people are usually shocked by all the films I haven't seen. It's hard to keep up!
Music: Gorillaz and Radiohead are the only ones I can name. I like mostly everything, but tend to stray towards alternative rock/electronica (but no Tiesto please!)
Books: Anything with travels. Favorites include Shantaram, most things by Salman Rushdie, Haruki Murakami, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
climbing kilimanjaro and seeing the sunrise from uhuru peak, complete with some frolicking in the ice walls on the summit. GORGEOUS!
