我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I'm an incredibly devoted fan to ODESZA and STRFKR. When I learned STRFKR wasn't going to be visiting the Midwest anytime soon, I was pretty bummed. But that didn't really stop me from catching them in concert. For whatever reason, I decided it might be crazy cool to go to Phoenix for the McDowell Mountain Music Festival where they were going to play. It might not sound like much, but being a single female traveling alone is a tad daunting of a task to some. People generally thought I was crazy, and found it to be a wasted effort to just go "see a band". But being at that music festival was amazing for several reasons: (1) I did it all on my OWN, I received no financial assistance from anyone. As a college student, that's a pretty great feeling. (2) It was a hell of a lot more than just going to see a band that I love, it was about doing something that I'd thought about for ages and finally having the gumption to do it. That may sound simple and meaningless, but a lot of people still don't have the courage to go out into the world and experience it on their own. (3) As a lone female traveler, it was empowering. It was a big "screw you" to the people that advised against it because I was alone, and "people might get ideas". (4) STRFKR is my personal favorite band. Seeing them in concert because I was able to make it happen for myself was something that I can't really describe all that well. For lack of better words, it was "amazing".
It's difficult for me to articulate to you, the reader, why this was an amazing thing that I did; but for a 22 year old loner female college student with little means, getting to listen to my favorite music in completely uncharted territory with strangers who also shared a love for the same music is kind of a sublime experience.
