About Me

Howdy, Travelers. I am Dimi, a 23-year old Bulgarian who has, by some weird circumstances, spend the last 4 years of his life in Denmark.

Currently, I am full-time excitement seeker and in my free time, I am trying to complete a bachelor in Marketing. I promise I am not as boring as what you might expect from a business student. :D

I am always curious about life and willing to learn new things. I enjoy laughing and meeting new people with a different background than mine. Especially the ones that could challenge my worldview.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

(Lately, I noticed that my traveling has become very "touristy" - I was staying in hostels and visiting buildings and attraction designed specifically for tourists. As much fun as that is (no, seriously, social hostels or amusement parks could be quite a lot of fun), I felt it was somewhat limiting.
Each time, I was going to predesigned commercialized locations, taking the exact same photo from the exact same angle as everyone else, admiring a building/statue that was supposedly considered to be the landmark of the city (anyone who has visited the little mermaid in Copenhagen knows what I am talking about). This gave me a very artificial feel of the place. Furthermore, of all the people I was interacting with during my trips, the locals were few and far in between. That's a very superficial way to get a feel for a culture.)

I am on Couchsurfing because I seek different types of experiences. I want to immerse myself in the culture that I am visiting. I want to experience the exact same everyday life as the locals. I want to use local's daily commute, eat the food that they eat, go to the places they go, stay in a place they call home, visit the off-the-radar hidden places, hear the language they speak, the tradition they have, the problems they face… I want to feel the atmosphere of the place. The more different from home, the better.

And the best part is, sometimes you don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home to hear what it's like living somewhere else! After all, traveling is all about the people you encounter and their stories.

Interests

Everything that I haven't tried interest me. I love new experiences, like to challenge myself, do things that I am afraid of and which are outside of my comfort zone.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I am a big moviegoer and also a self-proclaimed movie expert. :D I can talk for hours about movies, so it is advisable to avoid starting this topic.

Music: I don't like to describe my music preference by simply listing music genres. Music is like beauty, you know it when you see it. (Or in this case, hear it)
