ABOUT ME

I am keen on becoming the best that I can be! I have two fabulous daughters who are the best things that have ever happened to me. I stay in Ningbo so that they can be near their father but I long to travel and meet other people. Since I can't travel I am happy to meet others who have decided to come here. I have lived in Ningbo Ten years and speak Chinese. Oftentimes i feel like the Nicole Kidman of Ningbo and life is like living in a goldfish bowl.
I spend a fair amount of my time exercising and finding people to do fun and exciting sports with. Not a stay at home soapy watching mum at all.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is what you make of it and it is important to take responsiblity for what happens to you. We attract certain experiences but we need to understand that when they aren't so pleasant that they are there to teach us something important. Many people live their lives in selfishness and this is really restrictive. What you give out is what you get back! Terry Pratchett is one of my favourite authors and his character 'Death' has a saying that resonates with me; "There is no justice, JUST US!'
What that means to me is that life is what we make of it and we oughtn't sit around feeling sorry for ourselves but we do need to realise that we are here for each other and by helping others we help ourselves

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to meet others from around the world. I can tell you about China and Ningbo and show you were to go and tell you what is fun and what isn't so fun. Have been here so long not much I don't know. Can help with language as well and am a born networker, introducing people to each other.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not much but seem to do it naturally anyway. Once ended up in England and crashed at a few friend houses when I hadn't known them all that long but apart from that am new to this all.

Reggae, Terry Pratchett. Most of the classics; pride and predjudice, Sense and sensibility, Count of Monte Cristo, Three musketeers, Ivanhoe, etc.
Just love books and have a huge library at home. Would love more and my idea of paradise is to have a huge library in my home with french windows opening into a garden overlooking a stream.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I shot a grenade launcher! I nearly blew up my section by dropping one I was supposed to throw from a pithole.
I have worked as a nurse and seen some major suffering. I have made myself climb a mountain twice despite having a fear of heights.
I travelled alone in scotland and saw a forest which existed before the Romans were there. I started a school for my children cos there wasn't one here in Ningbo when I came here.

I am really into Gender studies and anthropological studies of past and present people. At heart I am actually quite shy and nervous but I really push myself to be outgoing. I love listening to people talk about philosophy and the meanings of life and why we do the really strange things that we do. I crave intellectual companionship and find that sometimes my current network of friends can be a little too mundane, worrying about things that won't change and are pointless worrying about. I want to expand myself and meet people whose ideas are different to me. Perhaps travellers coming through ningbo or nearby will have different experiences to mine and we can share ideas and stories. I have many such stories to tell. I also want to expose my daughters to interesting people to help them more understand the world around them.
