About Me

*** UPDATE ***

I cannot host ppl during the next weeks. I will come back soon! ;)

CURRENT MISSION

To discover the beauty of the planet we live on and to meet inspiring people! All this while trying to improve other people's lives through my job. I am also trying to build a Youtube channel for 360° videos about "Hidden Pearls" in Italy for travellers to have a glimpse of the beauty of Italy (it is called Hiddenpearls_360).

ABOUT ME

I am medical doctor working in Verona, Italy. Working in the business and not in clinical wards, though, hence I very often work from home and/or will not be around town. It is possible that I could not have much spare time to roam around during the day, but I will definitely love to have dinner and chats together during the evening.

I travelled quite a lot throughout Europe in the pre-pandemic era and did a couchsurfing trip in Italy a few years ago. I travelled twice to and fell in love with Australia (Queensland in particular) and I would love to come back as soon as it becomes possible again!!

Music is my drug of choice, especially symphonic metal, classical, humoristic (aka: Ylvis or The Lonely Island) and rock. Others interests that we could have a chat about if you feel like to include nature, books (especially psychology), comedy, English humor, VR and 360 videos (I am trying to create a 360 VR video Youtube channel!), art, science, phylosophy, videogames (I am a n00b, though XD) and listening to other traveller's stories.

I am very fond of TED videos, audiobooks, podcasts and travel stories! :)

MY PLACE
My place is not very close to the city center, just so you know (about 35' on foot from the Arena, 15' by bus, 10' by bycicle and 9-14€ cost of taxi). It is located in a quiet area with a lot of green around and just besides the "fiera" (150m). My place is very well served with public transportation (150m from apartment door tthere is the bus stop to the city center), convenient stores (200m), shopping mall (1.0km), parks (just right of the corner), shops and one of the best pizzerias/gelaterias in the city (0m, it is basically on ground floor of my apartment: I live with contast perfume of pizza inside my apartment, which might be a course!!!).

I love animals (we had up to 7 dogs at home), especially my rescued cat Fortunato (aka "Lucky") who does not currrently live with me in Verona.

I dislike anything which is too chaotic, like discos, places that are too overcrowded or where there is too much confusion to talk properly. Although I do not deny such situation once in a while, I tend to get tired of them pretty quickly and so I prefer quiet and chats. I do not smoke and do not do drugs, and I do not allow any kind of drug at my place (you might smoke on the balcony, though).

I like good wines (c'mon, I'm Italian! :D) and having a cold beer from time to time. I love cooking, particularly first courses. I like open air activities, staying in the sun, riding my bicycle (another compulsion of mine, during summer), travelling around by car and listening to other people'a life stories.

I traveled alone around Europe, USA and Australia more than once in the past.

I self-published a sci-fi novel which is on Kindle platform now, and I am trying to complete my second one! ^^ (more info here: http://bit.ly/wtnovel)

I am as myopic as a mole XD Without glasses I could not tell my sister from my brother 3m far from me. Therefore, I am not as much an adventurer as I would like to!

PHILOSOPHY

"Live as happy as you can, learn as much as you can, love as much as you can. You could not be willing to accept it, but your time on this Earth is NOT unlimited, therefore don't waste your time and don't lose any opportunity to help and to be happy."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just re-joined couchsurfing after the univerisity years and after having finally settled down for quite a while and having my own place where I could host fellow travellers. I frequently travel between Milan and Verona for family and business purposes, hence I sometimes do Blablacar and can give rides, too, if needed (Covid-restrictions permitting!).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I traveled through Italy via couchsurfing for almost two weeks in the summer of 2014 and it was a fantastic experience! I promised myself that as soon as I could, I would love to give it back to the community and to host fello traveller! :)

*OLD UPDATE* I do not know why, when CS updated theirs websites, I lost some of my older references :(

When I travel, I never go for hotels or fancy accommodations. Travelling means "to meet" to me, so my way of travelling mostly include CS and Airbnb/hostels. I would go for other, fancier solutions only if job-related or for accommodating other people's requests.

I do not want to "use" CS as a cash-saving solution and I would like my guests not to, as well. My place will be at your disposal and I will be more than happy to have a chatand to cook together, and/or to show you around the area (Verona, Garda lake, all the Valpolicella winery scene, and so on) if occasion arises and you wish, but that is absolutely not obligatory! :)

I also used to participate to CS events not related to hospitality per se, and I would like to start doing it again now that the Covid situation looks like it permits it. I like to think that "CSurfers have friends all over the world that they have not met yet"! :)

Interests

Music, cinema, books, animals (dogs, cats and ocelots!), sports, people, cultures, foods, science (medicine and psychology in particular), arts. I like some videogames, though I am not a computer geek any longer. I was stuck for weeks with "Life is Strange" and I like killing some dragons in Skyrim once in a while.
All my interests could be summed up with the word "stories".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw the explanade in Lourdes filled with thousands of people united in pray, all together in silence, and that was quite a simple and amazing stuff. I see almost every other day exceptional and almost unbelievable things happening in surgical and in patients' rooms. One time I saw a human heart stop beating and resuming after a few hours. THAT was hella amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know very little that I could teach well :) I know something about medicine, psychology, sports, music/harmony, ..., and I am eager to fulfill life's main purpose: to learn, to live and to love (as Devin Townsend says!) :)
I will always keen to great conversations but also will not expect loquacity as a must. Feel free to enjoy your stay!

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I am travelling light (as I often do) and I can't carry gifts, I usually help with cooking (though even if I am Italian, I cannot call myself a great chef! ^^'), offer to pay trips or lunches/dinners or simply doing whatever I can to be of any help.

Countries I’ve Visited
