Overview
About Me
I'm happy as long as I can spend time outside, and even happier if I'm outside with company!
Work:
I'm wrapping up my PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, which means that I spend my days in a lab working on understanding and improving dynamic windows and solar cells. I'm trying to bring a new dynamic glass (think turning down your window's brightness) into the real world to save energy and make the world a little greener.
Free time:
I spend most of my weekends in the mountains. The Sierra Nevada has taught me an appreciation for climbing, mountain biking, skiing, and hiking beyond what I could have imagined, and I'm constantly seeking to expand my horizons to new places. When I'm not off adventuring, I love to read, I dabble in cooking, and I'm just picking up the ability to make interesting cocktails.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, traveling has been as much (or more) about the people I meet than the places I go. I appreciate people with passion, especially if it's a passion I know little about!
Interests
Mountain biking, road biking, skiing, rock climbing, backpacking, SCUBA, snorkeling, camping, hiking, cooking, reading, running, tennis, golf, sailing, basketball... I can go on, but suffice to that if it's active and outdoors, I probably enjoy doing it.
