Overview
About Me
I’m Ibrahim A. Kamara, a social entrepreneur, musician, and education advocate from Sierra Leone. I lead the Safe Haven Adaptive Response Program (SHARP), tackling climate challenges in Freetown’s slum and creek communities through disaster relief, education, and sustainable agriculture.
I love meeting new people, sharing cultures, and building meaningful connections, which is why I’m passionate about Couchsurfing.
What I Do
I divide my time between the city and countryside:
• Freetown (2x a week) – Running a school and working on community projects.
• Village (3x a week) – Managing an agricultural program and another school.
Experiencing Sierra Leone with Me
Weekends are about adventure, culture, and good company:
• In the village, we explore farms, canoe along the Rokel River, and connect with local communities.
• At the beach, we swim, surf at Bureh or No.2 Beach, or just enjoy the sunset.
• In Freetown, we explore markets, history, and the energy of the city.
• At home, we cook, go to the market, and share stories over a meal.
What I Offer to Couchsurfers
I love a mix of work and play—a chance to connect through simple, meaningful experiences:
• Sing a song for the kids or farmers.
• Play guitar, teach a language, or share a skill.
• Inspire young minds and promote global citizenship.
For me, Couchsurfing is about networking, cultural exchange, and knowledge-sharing. I’ve met incredible people from around the world—sometimes, I don’t even want them to leave!
Couchsurfing in Sierra Leone
For overland travelers crossing from Guinea through Sierra Leone to Liberia (or vice versa), many stay in Waterloo for a few days, soaking in the experience before continuing their journey—and having a coffee with me.
Looking forward to hosting, meeting, and sharing stories with you!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I founded Safe Haven Adaptive Response Program (SHARP) to help communities in Sierra Leone affected by climate change and poverty. Through this, I’ve built schools, supported disaster relief efforts, and created sustainable farming projects to help people rebuild their lives. Seeing children get an education, and communities thrive has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.
