Music, Movies, and Books
This is kinda hard - u would understand if you saw the books piled to the ceiling in my living room! I would say that my favourite book is probably "A thousand Splendid Suns" by Khalid Husseini as It really conveys the power of human relationships, particularly friendship between women in a sensitive and touching way. Other favourites are Georgie, by Malachy Doyle, One Child by Torey Hayden, Empty Cradles, by Margaret Humphreys and Maya Angelou's series of autobiographies.
I have varied tast in music, ranging from everything from scottish folk and american country to dance and (with the exception of jazz and metal, which really dont do it for me)My favourite music at the moment is L'angelous, The Gypsy Kings,Nanci Griffiths, The streets, Kriss Kristopherson, The Saw Doctors, North Sea Gas amongst a long list of other things!
My taste in movies - simple - anything that make me cry! I enjoy a lot of the Artificial Eye productions, and tend to like gritty realist movies. I also like war movies, romantic comedies and films based on true events. I like my fair share of documentaries as well.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think that one of the most amazing experiences I've had was the first calf that I delivered with a calving jack (equipment used to pull a calf when it is stuck) It was really amazing to do and I felt a really elevated joy when the calf was born and shook its head.
I also think that my trip to the USA was amazing. I worked in NY for a cuple of months and then travelled with a tent down to Texas. I met amazing people wherever I went and loved the different scenery as I passed through virginia and North Carolina on the way down.
Teach, Learn, Share
As part of my job I teach vet students animal husbandary with sheep and cattle and I really enjoy this aspect and seeing people become more confident with their skills.
I also teach violin (scottish fiddle music) - and am willing to give anyone a lesson if their interested.
My main goals for learning in the next year are pottery, woodwork and French. I am quite arty - when I have time, and enjoy painting and doodling but I have always wanted to make things with both clay and wood. My evential aim of taking a woodwork course is to make a shepherds crook.
I want to learn french as I studied it at school but havent really used it since and consequently I have forgotten most of it. I really want to get back to a conversational level to increace my ability to talk with people from different countries and to make travelling easier.
I am keen to learn any new skills which people wish to share, particularly those related to making things!
