ABOUT ME

I was born and lived in Wisconsin most of my life. I went to undergrad at UW Eau Claire and obtained my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from 2003-06 after which I went to the UW Medical School in Madison, WI from 2006-10. I matched to Dayton, Ohio to do my training as a general surgeon.

PHILOSOPHY

If you are going to do something it should be done well. I try to put my whole self behind what I do. Becoming a doctor has been a goal of mine since I was 10 years old. After residency I hope to go on medical missions to areas of high need.

Have very much enjoyed surfing. Will plan to host when have my own place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have found the experience to be great. Rather than returning to an empty hotel room it is wonderful to talk with a local person about the area. I wish I would have found out about this before I went to Europe in 2006.

Interests

I enjoy traveling, architecture, history, and surgery. I especially love to travel in the wilderness and have taken many 28+ day long trips into the Quetico Provincial Park with my parents and siblings. I also like motorcycles and doing occasional roadtrips with my family (went to Glacier National Park and Yellowstone) or solo (went to Quebec City the summer of 2008). I own a 1974 BMW motorcycle, a 1978 Yamaha, and a 1979 Kawasaki.

Music: I like anything really except for hard rock and country.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Delivered 3 babies on my own. Have been part of +400 surgeries so far and have spent five months working in the intensive care unit.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am fairly competent at mathematics, enjoy physics and chemistry, and am working to becoming skilled at surgery. I enjoy cribbage and could teach that in an evening. I am up to trying most new card or board games.
