Overview
About Me
I love dancing (mostly ceili recently, but there isn't a form I've encountered yet I don't like), reading, all things outdoors (well, from a liberal description of "being outdoorsy"), playing music, talking to folks, sailing, curling up on comfy couches... Whew lately I work a whole lot and that feels strange since I'm a big fan of variety in life...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here to meet interesting people, to have conversations, and make friends. I'm here to value people regardless of whether they become huge parts of my life. I'm here to travel cheaply and be a part of a better and more communal world, and to help that world expand and develop.
I'm here because I've traveled via couchsurfing a bunch (with partners more than alone, and often via their orchestration) and think it's awesome!
Interests
Culture, society, ideas, most things science, but maybe not so much some of the really obscure stuff. I'm willing to be convinced that anything is interesting though!
I don't have a house proper, just a sailboat, so naturally I'm interested in boats. I love music and find it very interesting...

Music, Movies, and Books
I love most forms of traditional music, as well as most things instrumental... some favorite artists might be Paco de Lucia, Naseer Shamma, Miles Davis, Old Blind Dogs...
I'm a huuuuuge fan of the Nyckelharpa. I used to really love most styles of electronica but now a lot of it bores me a little. Boots Riley is a local bay area rapper I like a lot...
I love Besia Bulat, Billie Holiday, Regina Spektor, Deb Talon...
I guess that's a good few transects of my music interests lol. I've read and love a bunch of Murakami. I really enjoy Virginia Wolf's work. I read lots of non-fiction, stuff about society mostly, I'm really looking forward to reading the definitive socio-geographical history of San Francisco, "Imperial City."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being amazed. Being ecstatic. They're both pretty amazing... So is being lonely or deflated actually, but those are pretty amazing in different ways...
It's amazing being alive! But I know that's a bit of a cop-out answer...
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good company.
