Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hi there! ;-) I'm moving to Japan to teach English after years of working as a writer in Chicago, U.S.A., and am looking to meet people local to the cities I will be in when I first arrive. There's no better way to enjoy a place than through its people, right?

I will be in Kobe for the entire month of September for a University of Cambridge TEFL course. After that I'm not sure if I'll be moving to Tokyo, Osaka, or perhaps some place completely different! Maybe you can help me decide? ;-)

Aside from writing and teaching, I'm also a triathlon official and travel a bunch in the U.S. to officiate events. I'm hoping to do a number of races in Asia from now on internationally, as I am also a certified official for the International Triathlon Union.

A bit more about me: I'm a musician and a huge fan of film, and have been fortunate to even be an extra on the set of a few of Chicago's productions that film here, namely "Chicago PD" and the Showtime hit, "Shameless."

What else? I've taken a number of botany classes at the Chicago Botanic garden on my way to a professional gardener certificate, so if you have some plants you'd like me to keep alive while staying in your place, I'd be honored. ;-)
