About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To do whatever makes me happy and not what other people expect me to do...

ABOUT ME

I like 'the unexpected' and I'm always up for a good adventure, I have strong opinions about certain things in life, I can be quite stubborn sometimes, I have no problem with sarcasm, I'm a solo traveller, a bit of a tree-hugger and I like doing things instead of just talking about them :).
I'm a bit weird in the sense that I have several boxes with compost worms at home (they are amazing - really!) and wherever I go I just have to check whether there is a geocache for me to find ;).

I actually take my time while travelling. I prefer quality to quantity and in Europe I will always travel by land and I avoid flying at all cost - even if it means that I will "lose" two days each way to get to a country. It's just part of the trip for me :).

Wanna know more? Meet me and find out for yourself.... some people have actually said I'm fun to be around with. But no promises...

PHILOSOPHY

Do whatever it is you want to do, but do it with passion!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host, I surf, sometimes I organise meetings and sometimes I go to meetings that are organised by other people...ha! (Who would've guessed?)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surprisingly, even though I used to live in the middle of nowhere, people still came and stayed with me every once in a while ;) ...now that I am in Bern it's a bit more complicated to host but you can always try your luck. Of course I've done my share of couchsurfing and I've met a lot of great people and also a few weird ones...haha who hasn't ;)...but generally I've always had a good time.

I love how CS can open doors to places that you would never be able to see and experience as a 'normal tourist' and I love how the community helps people who are in a foreign country, just because they can. It just makes travelling so much better. I want to meet you, the people!, not see some sights I have seen on photos a thousand times ;).

Interests

I guess my free time I mostly spend with sports and being outdoors (snowboarding, splitboarding, squash, jogging, mountainbiking, hiking swimming,...) and exploring the world (obviously!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Is there anything better than going to the movies with a big bag of popcorn on a cold rainy night?

I like music and could not be without it. At home, on the train, at work.... There is no summer without me visiting at least one of the big music festivals in Switzerland.

I love books and I think it's great how much time there is to to read while travelling (on planes, buses or lying in hammocks :) ). Unfortunately when at home, I never seem to find enough time to read...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting Venezuela during 3 months as (pretty much) the only tourist in the country, snorkelling with an anaconda in Brazil (yeah!), seeing two wild Jaguars in Bolivia, a Skydive over Byron Bay, sleeping in the hut of an Embera (native tribe) family in the Darién (Panama), diving the Great Barrier Reef when it was still in a good shape and sooo many more....
