ABOUT ME

Hi,
My name is Becca. I'm single, 30, and just finished graduate school. I decided to take 6 months (or maybe more if I can't find a job!) to travel and see more of the world and enjoy life before I get too tied down with a career.

In a few days I'm heading to Europe for my first real solo traveling experience. I've traveled lots before (approx 50 countries) with friends and family but am on my own this time. That's one reason that I wanted to try couch surfing...so I can travel solo but not feel alone.

I'm a people person...friends and family are really important to me. I'm maybe a little shy when I first meet new people but once I open up I'm fun and maybe even a little crazy.

I like to talk but also don't mind silence.
I'm fun but not a big partier.
I don't smoke or drink alcohol, but can still have a good time.
I love meeting people of different backgrounds and expanding my world view.
I think if everybody traveled more the world would be a better (and more peaceful) place.

PHILOSOPHY

I think I'm still figuring this out. Maybe everyone is. I just want to be a good person, be happy, and live a life of no regrets.

I want to do good, contribute, love, and learn.

Tomorrow I want to be a better person than I was today.

I'm a Christian and I do believe in God and Jesus Christ and feel that my belief helps me want to be a better person, but I don't expect everyone else to believe the same things I do. We all have had different life experiences, different backgrounds, and have different beliefs and I think that we can and should learn from each other.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just couch surfing for now as I don't currently have a couch to offer back...but I plan to in the future (hopefully in a year or two). But, even though I don't have a couch to offer right now I'd still love to show people around or meet up for lunch or whatever with other CS people...that is if anyone actually wants to come to Idaho...it is a beautiful but rather boring state!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm just getting started with officially couch surfing on this site but in the past I have done some unofficial couch surfing by staying with friends of friends and things like that. I have loved all of the experiences I've had and find that my experience traveling is much more meaningful and real (and not so touristy) when I stay with locals.

兴趣

I'm pretty much crazy about traveling. It is my passion and driving force. I just want to see as much of the world as I can, meet as many people as possible, and learn and have meaningful experiences along the way.

I also spend a lot of time with my family and extended family. I am very close to my parents, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. I'm a first time aunt as of January of 2010 and I love spending as much time as possible with my little nephew.

I like reading, running the occasional 5K, rollerblading (nerdy, I know), blogging, going on long drives, planting flowers and gardening, etc.

Movies: I like lots of different movies...here are just some I can think of easily: Bridget Jones's Diary, Shawshank Redemption, The Lives of Others, Little Miss Sunshine, Pride and Prejudice, Life is Beautiful, etc.

Music: I like pretty much everything. I'm not a huge fan of country music or rap but I like most everything else I've heard. Some groups/musicians I can think of right off are: The Beatles, Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Cake, Pete Yorn, Snow Patrol, The Shins, Mana, Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Keane, Mat Kearney, etc.

Books: I like lots of books but mostly like non-fiction...or at least if they are fiction books I like historical fiction. I like to learn when I read. I just read Four Corners by Kira Salak and loved it and think every woman traveler should read it. I also recently enjoyed Leap into Darkness by Leo Bretholz a book about his experience as a Jew on the run during WWII. And I recently read A Long Way Gone which is a memoir of a child solider in Sierra Leone...so sad but very interesting.

I want to learn to cook!...especially different dishes from all over the world. I can make good desserts but I am not so good when it comes to cooking "real food" like main dishes and sides.

I'm trying to learn about photography and want to get better at documenting my adventures.

Hmm...what can I teach you? I have a lot of interests but don't feel like I'm really good at anything. I know Spanish so I guess if you want to learn a little Spanish I can teach you. I know about Public Health and biology but I don't know if anyone would want to learn about those things.
