About Me

Hey I'm Dominic! I am a German student of Computer Science with some Argentinian roots.
In my life, I like two kind of contrasting things: the ordered and ordinary life with job and living and on the flipside the exciting life, with travelling new places, learning interesting stuff and meeting new people.
Even though as a student I have at home both things at a time (I have to study and work a lot usally, but I also live with 15 mostly international students in an apartment and when you are a student lots of fun stuff is happening anyway); a lot of times, even though I love my life at home, I still like to kind of break out there and find some other adventures when travelling. That includes living in the US for one year with a family, living in Spain for 6 months trying to find a job to pay rent and travelling Scandinavia with a friend and no clue how stuff works (and many more). Other than this stuff, I'd say I'm pretty chill, easy to handle and I love to have good conversation about literally anything..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard from some friend that couchsurfing, when travelling, is a really nice way to actual connect to some people who live at the places you are going to. While I enjoyed my past travels, I often felt this was missing from them.
When my friend Nina and me decided to have some adventurous Interrail-Trip together, I immediatly decided that this would be the perfect experience to try this out as well and hopefully meet interesting people!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: mainly Indie and Hip-Hop, some Classic, Rock and Pop
Movies: Harry Potter is my all time favorite. Other than that mostly series (like Breaking Bad, Suits, Rick and Morty, Final Space)
Books: A LOT. Harry Potter again, but so much more.... 1984 by Orwell is awesome. Sapiens by Harari. Cherub by Muchamore. Literally any good book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While traveling per Interrail through Scandinavia with a friend in late fall, we decided to camp in Finse (highest point of the Bergen-Bahn in Norway). We did not have any proper equipment at all (literally sneakers and jeans). Right after we put up the tent, a strong snowstorm started which did not allow us to leave the tent for the next 18 hours. Even though it was very cold (even with 5 pairs of socks), this was definitely some experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would of course most love to learn about the city that I am travelling to: culture, history, character... really anything. Also very interested in languages (even though my focus is on Dutch and Spanish as of now).

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences of visiting other countries. Everything they would want to discuss about Computer Science or a connected field of study. Languages. Some of my baking or cooking skills if this is wanted (the most amazing thing would be to cook a traditional dish from the place I am travelling to with someone from there!).

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Spain, United States
