About Me

Hello!

My name is Dominik, I'm an 19 years old guy who is currently studying Political Science and Economics at the University of Heidelberg. But honestly, I am really bored by Economics, so I'm going for a few additional courses in Eastern European Studies haha

I am always up for getting to know new people, new food and new places. I have never traveled much in my life before and there is still so much to discover for me!

I try to make the best out of myself, motivate others to push to the limits and try the impossible. Life is too short to be miserable, I maintain a positive, humorous and eccentric attitude. The best combination with dark Eastern European humour!

What I absolutely love is listening to peoples' stories, life experiences and opinions. There is nothing better than a brilliant discussion.

I'm a huge politics nerd and I will be always up to listen to your opinions. That is what I burn for, even though I know that contemporary politics can be very exhausting or seem useless. I want to be a changemaker in my local community and contribute my part, may that be as an activist, future researcher or future politician. Future will decide.

I won't annoy you with politics if you are not into it at all, after all I am your guest, not a campaigner on the streets.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I adore Couchsurfing as it gives people the opportunity to make meaningful bonds all around the world. This amazing form of intercultural communication is what really contributes towards a peaceful and unprejudiced world. Already in hostels I meet the most interesting people, and I am eager to see what this platform holds for me!

Yes, I am currently a student, so I don't have much money on my hands, however, that definitely does not mean that I will see you as my hostel or hotel. Being your guest means being respectful and responsible. One needs to be particularly thankful for people opening up their sacred rooms for strangers, coming from one big chaotic family I know how protective my parents are with our apartment. Not everyone wills to do that and the ones who do deserve respectful behaviour. Therefore, I will also gladly offer you my space if that is within my capabilities!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My absolutely best experience was being a Youth Ambassador in 2016 and being allowed to travel to Japan for two weeks, meeting the most memorable people ever, eating crazy food and diving into this rich culture!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am currently studying a couple languages. Croatian/Serbian/Bosnian, which I picked up during my voluntary service in Bosnia a bit - trying to improve on that a lot - , and I'm starting to learn Russian. I'm open to pick up Ukrainian, too, though! I simply adore Slavic languages haha

I can always help out with some of the languages I speak, share my own stories and views, music and movies that I like!

If you like cooking I can cook something Polish with you!
