ABOUT ME
I came to Alaska from Belgium 35 years ago. I made my living as a carpenter during 20 years here in Alaska. I had to retire because I was diagnosed with Parkinson"s, but I am still very active. I lived half of my life in Alaska, I am ready for a change. I'd like to see what is behind the hill.
Because of Parkinson, it is not safe for me (and others)to be behind the wheel. So I travel hitch hiking, bicycle or public transportation where there is any.
Interests
I have been interested by natural history, entomology, botany since I was a kid. Over the years, I have traveled to many remote places in Alaska, Adak, Arctic Ocean, Juneau, Kenai Peninsula where I live...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have written and published several books (Insects of South central Alaska, Willows of South central Alaska,etc...) and illustrated several others with pen and ink and water colors. I have donated my insect collection (20,000 specimens) to the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. I maintain the website Alaskanaturalist.com where you can find saples of my work.
