Overview
About Me
During the 25 years I have taught at the college level, my home has often been a melting pot of students discussing music, culture, or organizing a hiking or climbing trip. I'm now in a career that doesn't provide that contact, but my hospitality remains.
International visitors, please note: "New York" refers both to the well-known city, but also the large state containing it. I live in Rochester, New York, a city 500 kilometers from New York City.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I was younger, I played Ultimate Frisbee, a sport where hospitality exchange at that time was an important part of the culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
I collect historical performances of classical music, from a period when it was much more of a living and experimental art form. I also have a collection of world cinema, including classics from the silent era. My library is heavy on physics and astronomy, nature, music, and political theory.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been very fortunate to mix several of my interests on occasion, one of the more fun was to climb an 18,300 foot peak in the Andes to deploy instrumentation to assess the quality of the mountain as a possible astronomical observatory.
Countries I’ve Visited
Armenia, Austria, Bahamas, Canada, Chile, England, France, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, Turkey
