About Me

Hi!
My name is Donna-Maria. I am 25 years old and I am so excited to finally have signed up on Couchsurfing.
I am a Swedish Lebanese spirit looking to discover the world. I enjoy getting to know new cultures, people, and environments. Bike rides, dancehall and afrobeat dancing, swimming, sunsets, and good conversations are things I enjoy most in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have currently finished my master's in Leadership for Sustainability which I chose to pursue as I am very interested in expanding my knowledge on how social sustainability can be applied in different contexts. But before I am jumping further into my career I am looking to travel around the world to see whats out there.

Music, Movies, and Books

I absolutely LOVE Burna boy. His afrobeats and sound has saved my moods many times. Besides that, I usually listen to artists like Popcaan, Wizkid, Davido, Tayc, Dadju, Giveon and many more. I also enjoy creol music such as PLL, Kalash, Barth and many more.

I love documentaries or movies that make me think and reflect, especially documentaries. Searching for sugarman is a good example. I also love Rick and Morty.

My favourite author is Maya Angelou

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

First time I traveled alone in Mexico as a 19-year-old naive girl with no Spanish knowledge I ended up in a hurricane evacuation (Hurricane Patricia). This was an incredible experience for me as I 1) survived 2) got to know some really good people who were evacuated with me. These people taught me so much about traveling and they inspired me so much. Which is a big reason why I now (6 years later) still am traveling.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to have conversations about culture, sustainability, and life. I believe we as humans are more alike than unalike. I also believe we are all teachers and that we have to do the best of our ability to walk through life with a humble and open approach to what others can teach us, as well as our influence on others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I speak 3 languages fluently (arabic, english, swedish) and pretty decent french, I can be a good language teacher. I have lived in many different parts of the world: Sweden, Jamaica, Dublin, Brussels and Lebanon so I would also love to exchange my learned lessons. I am a good cook and I always make sure to keep things tidy around me.
