About Me

My husband and I love to travel and create our own adventures. We love meeting new people, learning new customs and sharing what we know with others. We often travel together, but sometimes I take a solo trip here and there!

I spent many years living in a commune when I was a child and I loved the feeling of interconnectedness. I remember meeting so many different people and carrying the delight in that experience with me as I matured. Traveling reminds me how connected we are no matter how different our culture may be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is such a great platform for meeting new adventure seekers! We enjoyed hosting and will host again when we are not traveling!

I teach art and music and often burst into spontaneous song. I travel with my guitar whenever I can. I am trained as a plant-based chef, so I love to prepare and cook healthy and delicious meals. We often entertain at our home, inviting friends and local musicians over for an evening of Soup and Song. I prepare homemade soup and bread, they bring wine and a song and we end up wth a house full of music! It's a wonderful way to create community!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music, especially global folk music. I periodically teach music camps in the summer, my specialty being instrument building. I specialize in South American and African non-pitched percussion and love to teach the children how to upcycle materials to create musical masterpieces. Perhaps if we meet, we can create a rattle or drum and make some music!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once sang to a patient in hospice that had Alzheimers's Disease. She hadn't spoken for months. After I started singing, she not only joined in, but continued to talk to me and the rest of the group for over an hour. The power of music is amazing, isn't it!?
