About Me

I was born on the Internet. Raised by multiplayer games and educated in forums.
Physically located in Tel Aviv, right next to the park and river.

I act the way I feel is appropriate at every moment, without regard to tradition, customs or culture - unless they fit.
I enjoy being able to dedicate the entirety of myself to any situation or activity. I usually do things all the way or not at all.
I know how to listen. To everything.

I try not to take anything too seriously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm flying to the US to attend this conference:
http://www.ttconf.org/

I'm also staying in SF to explore the city as I'm considering living there in the medium-term future, so I'd love to meet new people who may also tell me of their experience living there.

Interests

I'm an interdisciplinary researcher at heart, though my focus is brains, cognition, human behavior, consciousness, and how these affect and play with everything else. This has led me, almost inevitably, to study the eastern mindfulness techniques, and I've combined both schools of understanding into something greater than its parts that I now try to spread around the world.

I used to work for a social movement, researching deliberative democracy systems, decision making processes and information sharing processes and techniques with the goal of creating better democratic tools using the Internet.

Now I'm a Vipassana teacher as a "hobby". Teaching groups and individuals both the theory and practice of mindfulness meditation using a modern and scientific view; teaching people how their brain, mind and consciousness work and how to improve those.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I spent most of my adult life in the academy, much of it in the interdisciplinary brain research program in Tel Aviv University.

I am a long-time Vipassana meditator and have been teaching for the past 4 years. The way I teach involves a completely novel, modern point of view based on scientific knowledge and an up-to-date understanding of the human psyche. (see here, in Hebrew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-OfPvwTqvU)
