About Me

A little over two years ago I moved to the UK to study Media, Communication and Cultural Studies. I think from that point onwards, my life has changed completely, as I found myself in a new country, where I had to get by without knowing anyone at first. Although it was hard to adapt at the beginning, I quickly became fascinated by how many people I could meet, all from different backgrounds and cultures. It is amazing how different we all are, and yet, how easy it is to bound with almost anyone over a nice meal, silly childhood stories, or a mutual hobby.

I love being surrounded by people, and I usually find it easy to make new friends. I'm passionate about trying new things, collecting memories, and making the most out of every moment. Whenever I go abroad, I try to see the city I'm at from the perspective of a local, so I really enjoy hearing about "hidden gems" and, of course, I always try local cuisine.

I love cooking and baking, and I would love to learn new recipes from your country/region! I think there's nothing better than having a good meal and a nice conversation with someone, be it an old friend, or a complete stranger.

I think the best stories in life happen when they are the least expected, so I always try to be as open as possible to unusual ideas and last-minute plans! :)

Sadly this year I live in a student accommodation where I can't accept guests, but I'm excited to have my own place from next year where I can host new people and make connections for life. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Moving to the UK from Romania meant opening up loads of exciting opportunities and places I've never been to.
I would love to see as much of the UK as possible, and as far as I have experienced, every city is completely different and each has an amazing story. So, even if I don't end up staying here after finishing uni, I want to learn as much as possible about different cultures within the country.

Going home for school breaks can also be quite a challenge from here, as it often requires traveling to a different city and having to spend the night there, as most flights leave in the morning. Couchsurfing would mean a great opportunity to spend a day exploring that city and getting to know locals.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a little bit stuck in that teenage pop-punk music phase... My favourite music includes All Time Low, Fall Out Boy, The Maine, Simple Plan, Blink 182.
Also newer basic girly stuff like The 1975, The Kooks or Halsey.

Also a huge nerd for Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.

And for solo travels, my favourite travel buddy is a good crime book that keeps me on the edge even when I'm on the road.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to a different country completely alone and had the opportunity to become anyone - so I tried becoming the best possible version of myself. I think of this as an amazing thing, as it changed my outlook on life and made me more mature and responsible than I could ever have been without this experience.
