About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a young translator with a penchant for the absurd and a dark sense of humour.

PHILOSOPHY

"This too shall pass", or a more modern take on that - "Don't sweat the small stuff"...I keep forgetting it though.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I’d love to host once I get settled down enough to actually call a couch my own. For now I’m just wandering about, using CS not necessarily for couches to crash but just to meet lovely people in strange new places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first CS experience is still in the future tense, but hopefully it won’t stay that way for too long.

Interests

I'm a straight up anglophile, with a soft spot for Russian culture as well. Lately Spanish has began to sound quite alluring too...so, languages have a strong pull.
I’m also a bit of a self-proclaimed seamstress. Well, no, not "a bit" but more of a compulsive DIY worker. There is something utterly enjoyable about the complete focus needed for sewing. And of course, people wanting to wear stuff that you'€™ve made is quite nice too :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: my favourites can be totally contrasting -€“ I find the creations of Trent Reznor and Arvo Pärt equally beautiful. I also enjoy 60s rock and swing tunes and never tire of 80s synthpop.
Movies: Films by Haneke, Tarkovsky, Trier...basically anything that keeps you so gripped with social criticism that you couldn’t possibly imagine gobbling down popcorn. I also have a flair for the absurd, so Rocky Horror Picture Show is always worthy rewatching. Oh and new British comedies featuring Dylan Moran, Simon Pegg etc...those are great as well.
Books: anything by Ellis, Dostoevsky, Dovlatov, Harms, Vaugh, Vonnegut, King, Sontag, Nabokov, Poe, Woolf...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

bungee jumping, once took on a project of reading a hundred books in a single year...and succeeded :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make sundresses and whip up a mean veggie omelette, plus I speak gibberish Russian.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Russian Federation, Sweden, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Estonia
