About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learning about other walks of life, meeting people with different life experiences, and travelling with less expense
ABOUT ME
My favorite activities are obscure sports, like racquetball and sailboating (golf, too, but that's not THAT obscure). I hope to learn to paraglide someday soon, too, though it's an expensive sport to get into. I wish I did more hiking and camping, but I just bought myself a really nice backpack, so maybe that'll help. I love watching movies and going to rock concerts.
I'm willing to get dirty, as long as I can clean myself up afterward. I don't like spiders, but I'm not too afraid to kill them myself. I grew up shopping in the Mall of America. The first rollercoaster I ever went on was the Corkscrew, which went upside-down, because it had the best safety system in place (compared to a stupid lap bar, which I had no confidence in). On long car rides I calculate random mathematical figures, like how long it will take me to drive the 523 miles to Bismarck if I average 82 mph.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would love to host people, but I live in the dorms and have no extra space. Hopefully in a couple years I'll be able to better the CS community by both surfing and hosting, but for now I can only surf.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't yet stayed with anyone through the couchsurfing website, though in summer 2009 I went back to Belgium to visit old friends (from 4 year prior), and ended up staying a night with the friend of an acquaintance. It was one of the best experiences I had on that trip, because I really got to know someone new and hear about (and experience, just for a little while) his lifestyle. Plus, it was a ton of fun. He showed me around town and knew where to find the best nightlife.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm currently listening to Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand on audiobook. It's really interesting.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing things I've ever done was renting an ATV on the island of Santorini in Greece. There's something very different and freeing about an ATV vs a car. There's nothing between you and the world on an ATV.
Teach, Learn, Share
If ever your toilet starts to flood, there is a knob on the wall behind your toilet. Turn it, and it will cut off the supply of water to your toilet. I had to do this once at Bible camp in 5th grade, and was the hero of the week.
