About Me

CURRENT MISSION

People are the eyes of the world and I want to see through them

ABOUT ME

Statistician at Twitter, songwriter, and cultural lover. Nothing is more fun than long conversations with new people and seeing the world from their point of view.

PHILOSOPHY

Jerry Garcia once wrote that we are the eyes of the world, and I agree. I want to see the world through other people´s eyes because I think that´s what we´re here to do as human beings.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

New to couchsurfing, though I´ve used AirBnB and stayed at many people´s homes in other countries. I like to help cook food and clean up, to teach and play music, and share cultural experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Previously I´ve used AirBnB to stay in places like Seattle, Amsterdam, and Lille. The best experiences are when you get the meet the host, help cook a meal with them, see some sights, and have long conversations about what they care about. Fellow musicians are a plus :)

Interests

Music, physics, and statistics. Camping, hiking, music festivals, and the beach. Travelling (duh!) on my own and meeting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Life of Pi, The Information, Darren Brown

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited a research colleague in Istanbul. That would have been enough, but then I took a bus out to Cappadoccia and rented a motorcycle. It was fantastic getting to see the fantastic cultural sights from such a personal vantage point. And the food and the people I met along the way were the highlight of the trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach people music and play music with them. And if you´re on the technical side, big into physics and statistics.

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Morocco, Spain, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, Scotland, United States
