About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Collecting experiences and memories to enjoy for later.

ABOUT ME

Greetings! My name is Dan and I live in the United States. I'm a third culture kid, musician, contrarian, skeptic, and traveler. I love a thoughtful conversation, getting lost, jazz, drinks, and reading.

I grew up in the Middle East, studied in the States, and I work in finance. I travel to find myself, to expose myself to new ideas and new people, and sometimes I write things down.

If we meet up we're going to the bars! I love to pass an evening with a drink and a friend and would be honored if you'd come along.

PHILOSOPHY

When you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect. - Mark Twain

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm brand new to couch surfing. I'm looking forward to couch surfing while I'm in Berlin in June. I want to experience the city vicariously through a local, not as a tourist.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I watched my friend do it and now I want to tag along!

But this one time I visited Edinburgh, Scotland and met a Venezuelan guy and he taught me all about socialism and photography. That meeting partly inspired me to participate in couch surfing. Building connections with people from all over the world with different interests, ideas, and backgrounds is the most fascinating and worthwhile activity I could participate in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in Tokyo during the 2011 Earthquake for an MBA business class. We were at Tokyo Disney when the earthquake hit. I still have my ticket stub.

Teach, Learn, Share

When we meet you will most likely teach me something.

I can teach you:
Music theory, how to make invisible friends, SAT words, the building names of Stetson University, how to fake it, to sing poorly, how to mic a drum set, how to drum a mic set, the difference between corporate debenture bonds and equipment trust certificates, how to avoid doing things, this special combo move (triangle, triangle, square, down, up, circle, X, X) <--(not sure what that does), and the names of only a couple U.S. presidents, specifically McKinley and Adams. There are more but I forget who.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, China, Egypt, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Netherlands Antilles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Saudi Arabia, United States
