ABOUT ME
Hello, unknown friend!
My Polish name is Karol, but people call me Charlie.
A few years ago, I graduated from Emergency Medical Services (B.Sc.). For one semester, I studied in Turkey as an Erasmus exchange program student. I also underwent internships in Lisbon, Portugal. Eventually, I graduated from Public Health (M.Sc.) in Łódź, Poland. Due to the curiosity of the world, I've never worked in my field.
At both universities, I was involved in student's exchange programs as a tutor/helper of incoming students from entire Europe and Russian-speaking countries of Asia. That brought me joy and gave me an opportunity to interact with people I would normally never run into in the typical daily routine of life.
Accustomed to company of different nations, I don't believe in social and cultural stereotypes, and I like to look for the good in everyone. I like to make fun of stereotypes, though, but only for humorous purposes!
Good job reading! If you went this far through the boring part, I think it's a good time to warn you about my sense of humor. I appreciate good laughter, and I like to joke around. Even if the joke's on me, that's fine as long as everyone's laughing. I happen to be grumpy in the morning; that's a recipe for sarcasm injection. If you consider yourself a politically correct snowflake, it's time to click away.
Another warning! I am an addict. Don't worry much; nothing harmful to my surroundings. My only addiction is sport. I can't picture my life without it.
For years, I've been a member and working activist of the Academic Sports Association.
I've represented my university 8x in sports competitions with high scores, four times in the Academic Championship of Poland in running, cross-country running, sailing, and rowing.
Nowadays, I'm a total gym nerd and part-time personal trainer.
In wintertime, I swim in icy water (winters in Poland are likely to be severe, my record lowest temperature when I came in to the water was 17 Celsius degree below zero). Highly recommended! It keeps me salted, healthy and fit entire winter even without developing on runny nose. It's not only physical, but spiritual training also- it's priceless when you go out from hole in ice and feel indestructible.
Huge animals fancier! I used to own a lot of pets, from arachnids to reptiles, but from all of them I miss the most Homer the duckling. It was a fantastic animal I had adopted from the street. I became Duck Mom at the time, and if you think your dog loves you, I guarantee you, duck child love is stronger. That explains the rubber duckling in my shower, if you ever wonder...
Currently, Cat Dad of Gandalf the Gray.
My latest hobby is photography, filmmaking, and video editing. I am also flying a drone. I think it's too soon to show off with my YouTube channel here (only 2 subscribers so far, including my mama, hahhahaha!), but I can send you a link if you are curious. I am learning photography, and my video editing is limited to making funny videos from trips. But hey! Who said you have to be good at hobbies?
Hmm I think that's enough-now, your turn! Tell me your story! :)))))
PHILOSOPHY
I'm trying just about everything at least once to have a somewhat qualified opinion.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
As you can see from my reviews I love to host and have meaningful interaction with my surfers. Often go for a trip together or join activities, especially if you don't rent a car. I don't run free hostel. This is not place to crash and hit the road. For the sake of community I rather host people who open their house for strangers too.
Interests
Film making, photography, exotic arthropods and animals, night life, fitness, running, snowboard, swimming and as everyone here traveling.
