About Me

Lover of play, nature, music, story, and you.

I'm a native Angeleno who wants to see as much of the world and it's people as possible. Hotels can be a nice break, but they pull you out of the place you're in; I could be in a Hyatt Regency anywhere in the world and feel like I was in LA. Familiarity is part of the draw I suppose, but I prefer to connect with the feel of the city that I'm in.

I'm a father to three boys 13 and under, an obstacle course racer, a meditation teacher, a lover of sunshine, a philosopher-poet, and a bit of a rebel. If you're around during my stay I'd love to share some tea, beer, coffee, or wine and hear more about you.

Thank you for opening your space to me and making my experience that much greater!

You can find me on most social media @dreadprtroberts for more pics and proof of moderate normalcy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and connecting with locals wherever I go! I would much rather get to know a new place through the stories of someone who loves it than through a guidebook!

Music, Movies, and Books

Yes, yes, yes. Give me good music, movies, and books across genre and I'm a happy camper. Favorite movie of all time is The Princess Bride. Book I'm currently in love with: Shantaram. Currently Listening to: Ibeyi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited 38 states in 28 days. I love a good road trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I teach meditation full-time and I am so grateful to be building my life with intention.
Learn: I hope to keep learning every day, there's so much out there!
Share: Food, laughter, understanding, compassion, acceptance, tradition, silence.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, I can clean, I'm a tech and a/v geek, and I'm happy to help in any way that I can!

If you're interested, I'd also love to sit in meditation with you. If you've never meditated before I can give you some basic instruction that will have you practicing in just a few minutes and give you some tools to help quiet your mind of the chatter we all deal with. If not, no worries or further pressure!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, France, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Turkey
