One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I traveled through the western regions of China for a month and a half. The entire trip was stunning, but one day in particular gave me a deep appreciation for having the ability to travel. While in Shangrila, China we went for a walk looking for a specific trailhead. We were never able to find it and we ended up getting lost. We made our way to a very small village with 20 or so small wooden houses. As we walked a few people came out to greet us. I have a very small amount of mandarin so I tried to ask for directions. That was fruitless, but the family I was speaking to, seeing that my friends and I were distressed, immediately invited us into their home. They served us traditional milk tea (which I enjoyed but is not for the faint of heart) and welcomed us to sit around their fire and eat some of the meal they had been preparing. As I sat there I was amazed at how incredibly gracious and kind this family was considering that these people in their home were complete strangers and they likely had little food to go around.
There are many other things that I am grateful to have experienced; and I hope to continue adding to that list.
