Host, host, host! I am bike touring the pacific coast this summer and want to host as many travelers as possible before I head out!

ABOUT ME

I am in that anxious but comfortable threshold between graduating from university and laying the foundations of a career. Now is an excellent window of opportunity for me to invest in experience in every way possible. Since graduating from LSU, my girlfriend Elizabeth and I have been planning and designing a self supported three month bicycle tour beginning in British Columbia and completing in San Diego. We have worked very hard to save and execute small victories along the way. Since we intend to stealth camp and use social media supportive systems like CS, we have committed to hosting as often as possible until our leave date. Currently, we have stopped full time employment for a part time schedule in order to ride more often and complete several small local tours in Louisiana in an effort to familiarize and condition ourselves for a radical lifestyle change constructed around bikes! Thus, we would love to converse, listen, cook, eat, ride bikes, and make new friends over the next several weeks so feel free to contact me for a tour of Baton Rouge, a comfortable rest spot or something longer! HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in a small but comfortable shot gun style duplex home in the Garden District of mid city Baton Rouge. The neighborhood is beautiful and historic, with many simple attractions close by. I can offer a couch, and have several linens that can be laid out on the wood floor to make quite a comfortable pallet. Also, food and showering accommodations can be offered if needed. I am able to host only one or two individuals at one time due to space, however, the frequency of requests is without restriction. I am excited to meet and discuss with travelers and even show them that while Baton Rouge has been traditionally overshadowed by the myth and legend that is New Orleans, it is a great capital city with lots for the open minded individual to enjoy and see!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Thus far my experience has been ideal. I hosted, quite randomly, three young people from Italy. We four immediately became friends as we discussed our cultures, homes, education, and occupations. I thoroughly enjoyed their visit and it definitely brightened my opinion of complete strangers. I hope to broaden this experience as the cold seasons change to more comfortable weather!

Literature: fiction or non. Preferably non, to highten interest and education. I also enjoy playing chess. Communicating with any person who will discuss their experience. I like to filter this information for later use in any other social setting I encounter. I have a degree in Anthropology and Linguistics. I am very intrigued by cognitive linguistics, proxemics, the amount of information we receive, categorize and otherwise handle each moment. Personally, my interests include personal finance, investing, and entrepreneurialism. For fitness, I love yoga, high intensity brief workouts, and BIKING! In fact, I hope to engage with CS in a a large way through a series of bike tours that I am planning for my time after graduation. As well, I am very interested in dietetics, nutrition, paleobotany, and paleo diet, mainly how to optimize the fuel that I provide my body. Understanding my biomechanical construct is important to me, and shopping at particular stores to support "food as the best medicine" is a daily habit and goal. I share all of these interests and hobbies along with many more with my best friend and girl friend, Elizabeth. She has a finance degree from LSU and we both graduated in December 2012.

Lately, for movies: Jackie Brown and most Tarantino, all Disney classics, Forrest Gump! I am sure I could go on all day. Music: Modest Mouse, Norman Blake, Elvis, Eric Clapton, Some soundtracks. Again, I could list indefintely.

Traveling, camping, and refreshing in Arizona with Elizabeth in summer 2010 and 2011. We went to Sedona, Flagstaff, Phoenix, Tempe, and the Grand Canyon. It was an amazing adventure and really opened my eyes to the possibility of travel without the constraints that prevent most people from taking trips. ( It is possible!)
Also, I went on a long car trip to Colorado in fall 2010 to visit my cousin. I drove to Colorado Springs, Boulder and Fort Collins. Hiking, eating, visiting and relaxing occupied the time. It was amazing and wonderful, I never stopped smiling!
Since I have been in school full time for the past three years, my list of adventures has had a hard time taking off. However, autonomy is the goal and with discipline, hard work, and self awareness I will soon step out of my hometown and comfort zone of Baton Rouge.
I can not wait!

I have expressed myself completely and now am excited and grateful to meet others so that I can listen to their philosophies, ideas, thoughts, beliefs, plans and accomplishments! No experience too small! My first and foremost priority in life is to rise each day content with the habits of behavior that I maintain and to notice the opportunities they provide for growth and learning.
