About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To fully live each and every moment of this life.

ABOUT ME

Passionate, kind, attentive, all-too-honest, patient, creative, chatty, and just a touch eccentric.

I'm self-employed, currently working as a software developer in Canada and around the world. The "around the world" part hasn't really happened yet.

I enjoy working with others on creative and exciting projects, and also enjoy solitary work time, where it's just me and the code. I'm both introvert and extrovert. I'm also a little bit of a loose cannon, even I never quite know what I'm going to say or think of next.

PHILOSOPHY

To always look into what is really going on in the world. To have real conversations with people, and listen carefully to what they are saying. To constantly question the nature of life, the universe, and everything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm completely new to the couch surfing community, and am looking to surf first (while I'm traveling) and then host when I get back home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not having traveled much before age 24, I haven't surfed on very many couches yet, aside from crashing occasionally at a friend's place over the years. Although I have lived in many different cities while growing up, including Lahr (Germany), Toronto, Trenton, Kingston, and Ottawa.

Interests

My biggest creative passion is also my full-time job, writing software, and these days, mostly web software, but now I am looking into mobile application development.

I am a student at a zen monastery in Ottawa, and so am actively investigating reality in itself, and trying to find out what is actually going on in the world, who it is that is breathing in and out each breath.

I also enjoy most card games, particularly hearts, euchre, and a nifty game called "Wizard". I also like gin (knock) rummy, cribbage, and president.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My photoblog site is: http://pblog.42bitsolutions.com

I have recently been to Nepal, and seen the Himalayas. But it was not just seeing the mountains, it was experiencing a taste of the local lifestyle and culture that made the trip. To do as the Nepalis do, to understand their sense of humour, and of course, to eat endless Dal Bhatt!

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy cooking, and perhaps have some natural ability, although I want to take formal classes within the next year. Although not entirely vegetarian, I have learned to love tofu, and have learned some ways in which it can be prepared.

I am always happy to share information about technology/programming stuff, as this is my profession and passion.

I'm always eager to learn about what others know, and my special interests are politics, history, cooking/food, and technology.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, Costa Rica, India, Nepal, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
