COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've experienced the very best of what CSing hopes to achieve. We have been hosted by beautiful people whose generosity, trust and love prove that humanity is thriving!

Interests

Anything outdoors, in any season. Guiding folks to re-connect with this fabulous planet and Mother Nature.
Backpacking, telemark, cross country skiing, marathon speed skating, paddling and mountain biking. We really like to move...it's amazing what one can do with a 7 year old!!
Good conversation with great food is delightful, discovering through a child's eyes is priceless, sustainable living and building keep us learning and busy and learning to play the violin must be good for the brain! Beekeeping is the next fascination...

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies?...we don't have a DVD player, mostly foreign and the occasional sappy love story. Books?..where to begin - at the moment The Global Forest (Diana Beresford-Kroeger), Mordecai Richler anything, anything to do with Food Sovereignty/Security and the Aid/Trade debate, classic children's book to read to Zari. Doing a complete reno of our 'new' old house, so much reading is devoted to that (Dusan). Music...very diverse collection at our house and we all like something a bit different (Dusan: not a fan of opera, country, rap or classical...Tonya: loves folk, classical, DMB, CBC Radio 1 & 2, Neko Case, nothing pop-y...Zari: anything but jazz!).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We've seen honeybees swarm and collect pollen.
We`ve seen the sun rise and set.
We`ve watched the spring animal babes learn to live on their own, and snapping turtles lay their eggs under a full moon.
We`ve taught a child to tie his own shoes, and to help a turtle cross the road.
We`ve mucked in the river in our bare feet and lay in the grass with people we love.
We`ve lived with our senses awake.
