About Me

Benedict (right) and Duncan (left) are two 21 year olds from the UK. Since leaving school we've been saving money but not really known what to do. Duncan spent a year working in Germany and Benedict has been working in kitchens.

We're both interested in the US as a country. We haven't planned a specific route, we're just going where the wind takes us, but we're starting in LA in March and ending in Chicago in June. We're just out to have a good time, get some drinks in and immerse ourselves in the local culture and music, trying different foods etc.

(Duncan doesn't eat meat, Benedict will eat anything)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Me and my friend Benedict are traveling around the US from March to June. Couchsurfing seems like a great way to make friends from different backgrounds who can give us good advice about the places we visit and also manage our travels on a lower budget.

Music, Movies, and Books

Both of us are big music fans, especially US and UK hip-hop (from MF DOOM and Lee Scott to Kendrick Lamar), as well as rock (Idles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dead Kennedys, and Primal Scream), reggae (Ini Kamoze to The Skints), jazz (Miles Davis to Ezra Collective), electronic (Aphex Twin to Underworld) and funk. We're ending our US tour seeing Parliament-Funkadelic in Chicago. We'd love to hear what you enjoy too.

When it comes to film we like all sorts, especially movies by Edgar Wright, Jim Jarmusch and John Woo.

Vonnegut is Duncan's current mild obsession, the last one was Kerouac. Benedict loves the Game of Thrones books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Duncan: Probably the most 'amazing' thing I've done was climb Mt. Meru and watch the sunrise from behind Kilimanjaro? Although I'm more proud of moving to Germany without having a place to live sorted out.

Benny: My band and I played at Camp Bestival in 2015.

I think we're both most proud of the fact that we've survived this long!

What I Can Share with Hosts
