About Me
Hello! I'm Dan and I'm an American currently living in Minneapolis, MN, USA. I'm heading on a trip to Europe in August, and I'm trying to get as much progress on here as I can before I arrive!
I'm a pianist and singer (low bass) mainly, and music has already brought me around the world. My collegiate choirs toured to Argentina (2009), Greece (2011), and Portugal (2013), and I had an amazing time in all of those countries! I would love to go to more places, especially since I won't be tied to a group of 60 other Americans like I was on choir tours.
I'm also something of a language collector. I majored in Spanish and studied abroad in Costa Rica in 2012, another wonderful time. Singing classical music has also required me to learn (at least the pronunciation of) French, German, Italian, and Latin. I've worked to maybe a B1 level in French and Italian, thanks to my Spanish knowledge, as well as Portuguese, which I studied before my last choir tour. I started learning German more intensely this summer too, which worked out well when I found out I was going on a trip to the Netherlands this summer. Some other languages I have learned a little of (but couldn't hold a conversation in now) are Russian, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Modern Greek. Oh well, I suppose I have plenty of languages kicking around already!
I would really like to visit Germany sometime. From everything I've read about social/cultural differences between them and America, I think I would fit right in. I'm drawn to their rich history in the classical music tradition, choral and symphony alike. And who knows, if Trump wins in November I might just move there for good! (Kidding... but only kind of.)
I'll fill this in more later, but bye for now!
