About Me

I'm a full time musician, I've been playing and writing music since I was six years old. I can play guitar, bass, alto sax, piano. a bit of drums, etc. I'm pretty easy going most of the time, but occasionally we all need to party right? I always have time for pretty much any event or social situation.

I've also got a bit nerdy side, watching anime and playing video games mostly, just leftover stuff from my childhood I have a biased love for.

I'm always looking to experience the best of any situation I'm in, and I always have an open mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always wanted to do some traveling and see the world since I was little. I heard about Couchsurfing from a friend of mine, she had done some traveling in Europe and Australia and recommended I experience it.

I'm hoping to do some traveling, meet some great people, and truly learn about the cultures of the places I visit. I hope to someday host some travelers as well.

Interests

My number one interest is music. I've been an aspiring musician since I was six and have been making the beginnings of a career of it since I was fifteen. I've been in a alt rock band for the last little while but we're on hiatus. I'm still working on it solo and have plans on finding another band to call home sometime soon.

Other interests include European football, (which we unfortunately call soccer in Canada) world history and the biological sciences, the arts, and I pretty much love anything to do with the ocean.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all kinds of music. Like Led zeppelin, The Beatles, Royal blood, RTAM, Queens of the Stone Age, Converge, NoMeansNo, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Refused, Black Flag, Fear, Fu Manchu, The Pillows, At The Drive In, and Sloan. Which just scratches the surface of my musical tastes.

My top 5 movies would be Alien, a Castle in the Sky, Kill Bill, PrincessBride, and Die Hard in no particular order.

As for books, I am unfortunately dyslexic. I wish I did more reading but I cant get past how hard I find it to do so. I will say however that I enjoy the short stories of Roald Dahl.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not sure if this counts as amazing but I'm going to use it anyway.

This one time I went to an unground punk concert in downtown Halifax. This band was up there going crazy and the crowd was loving them. So during their last song they invited the crowd up on stage with them to rock out.

So everybody is up on stage freaking out with the music blaring through our bodies, and at some point I thought it would be a good idea to try and jump over the drummer. I take a few steps back and rush right at the drummer and his drum kit. Somehow I manage to clear right over the drummer and the symbols on his kit, but when I landed it was right on my face.

Turns out somebody got that on video, and the band actually decided to use me jumping the kit and breaking my face in their music video.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people how to play a little guitar and bass, as those are the instruments I'm most proficient with. I haven't done a lot of it in the past, but I have taught a few friends of mine how to play songs they've really wanted to learn before. I can also teach certain scales and chords as well.

I have always wanted to learn how to speak more than just my native language of English. when I was a kid I attempted to learn how to speak French as I lived in a bilingual country. But the way the taught it in my school didn't leave much of an impression. Other than that I'm always open to learn more things.

I would love to share my tastes in the arts and hear about others tastes in art and music. I'd be happy to share the things I've learned. I may only have an average education at this point but I have done some of my own studies of the nature of things. However I am far from an expert, I am still a laymen in many points of discussion. I also find that one of the best thing you can share with someone is experience, and I would love to share the experience of meeting new friends and making great memories with anyone who would feel similarly.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share what I like and what I know with hosts, but what I really want to share is an experience that will hopefully make you happy you invited me into your home and/or inspire you to want to continue being a host for others. I'm very respectful of others places and I can even help out with things that may need to be done. I also hope to have fun with anybody who may be hosting and share some laughs too.
