About Me

I'm taking a one year break from work after an intense few years working in a biotech startup. My girlfriend and I just returned from an overland trip across Asia, from Istanbul all the way to Beijing, via the -stans. It was an incredible trip and we were fortunate to meet some amazing hosts through Couchsurfing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm still pretty new to Couchsurfing but I've had nothing but positive experiences. My current living situation doesn't allow me to host, but as soon as I'm in my own place and have the option I look forward to returning the favour.

Interests

Rock climbing, motorbiking, movies, science and technology, economics-finance-currency, history, art, and lots and lots of other things. I'm a very curious person.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: lots and lots, but my favourites tend to be from the 70s, like The Network, or Phase IV (sci-fi)
Music: lots and lots of different things. I've got a few friends who are connoisseurs and I happily poach from them.
Books: read lots of scattered things, lately a lot on economics, anthropology

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to Timbuktu. It's... sandy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I was co-founder and head of engineering of a biotech company for seven years. We developed some really high-tech tools to detect mutated DNA in blood for the purpose of early cancer detection. If you're interested in biotech, science, entrepreneurship, etc, there are lots of interesting stories and I've been told that I'm good at explaining complicated science-y things :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to think I'm quite practical and can help out around the house (cleaning/cooking/fixing things). Other than that, just having fun and hopefully I can return the favour if you come to Vancouver.
