About Me

My name is Dylan, I'm 23, finishing my BA in environmental studies with a focus on policy, social science and education. I love meeting new people, writing, traveling, snowboarding, hiking, backpacking, playing a variety of instruments, and reading most things. I'm easy-going and would be happy to just have a place to set up a tent in a backyard! I've been living in communal housing since I was 17 and know the importance of cleanliness and respect in shared spaces. I love meeting new people and am super stoked to finally try out (official) couch surfing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm making a last minute couch-surfing account to potentially find a place to style whilst in Durango for a WFR (wilderness first responder) certification. I also have been meaning to make one forever because I love road-tripping and this has always seemed like an awesome way of meeting lovely folks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Recently listening to a lot of finger-style guitar (ie john fahey). other music off the top of my head: john coltrane, grateful dead, ty segall, king crimson, david grisman, django reinhardt, gillian welch, girlpool, broken social scene, brian jonestown massacre, unknown mortal orchestra .. the list goes on and only gets more eclectic.

movies: anything by paul thomas anderson and wes anderson!!! kubrick is also cool.

authors: gabriel garcia marquez, ken kesey, steinbeck, hemingway, ferrante, delillo, borges, david foster wallace, dennis johnson, murakami, tolkien, salinger (talk to me about books)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two years ago I backpacked through unexcavated mayan ruins in Northern Guatemala for a week, saw jaguar tracks, fished out of crocodile infested rivers, hung out with monkeys, and made friends with a man named filin (roughly translated to catfish). Also plenty of other stuff but that is the first that comes to mind.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm super into methods of decolonization and am currently writing a thesis about the media coverage of indigenous actors in environmental conflicts. would love to talk about that or anything else even relatively environmentally or socially focused. I love to cook vegetarian meals and would be happy to do a work trade for a spot to stay.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am happy to cook, clean, split wood, tell jokes, serenade, recount adventures, and many other things!
