About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To finish my chef studies without doubling my weight.

ABOUT ME

I am a born swiss with a dutch father and south african mother. I have lived in switzerland (zurich and geneva) minus 2 years in the US when I was 11 and minus 4 years in the UK for university (although I came back to Geneva frequently). In january I made the big move to South Africa to begin my dream of becoming a chef.

Cape Town. Is. Amazing.

I like to run, I have recently taken up yoga (for the chef stress, you know), I love to surf (although haven't quite made it into the shark infested waters just yet), and I love a good time. Out, In, whatever, I'm there.

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you actually want to do, otherwise you'll be pretty bored.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't done anything for CS yet, BUT I would like to get involved and begin my series of networking. I finish my chef training in March and plan to stay in CT for another year, but after I want to travel around the world finding different jobs and moving around. I think CS could make my travelling plans slightly cheaper!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I went to NYC in June 2011 with my best friend. She had organised a place for us to stay with a girl she met in South America. We arrived at her doorstep not having spoken to her since she gave us her address. We waited outside her door for 15 minutes when some girls walked out of the elevator. They said they had just arrived home from ALASKA and lived in the same flat but Deena was away travelling again. "She hasn't mentioned you coming, but don't worry, she has couch surfers over all the time".

Best trip in NYC ever.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite all time movie: Remember the Titans
Books: I love any young series: HP, Twilight, Hunger Games and I've recently gotten into Game of Thrones
Music: Anything but hard core rap or over the top dub step.
Series: Give me modern family or friends any day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oof. I could list some incredible things I've done but unfortunately I don't think many would be insanely creative..........for example, Ha Long Bay, Angkor Wat, NYC (all in 5 days), Table Mountain, Tokyo......

I guess my most interesting personal life choice has been giving up my career as an Engineer to become a Chef.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm international. I have grown up in a society where if you didn't have at least two nationalities, you were the minority. I'm not saying I understand every culture, but I have an idea how to behave and react in different places across the world.

Also, you want to eat good for cheap? I can probably help at that. I love good food and I live on a budget - you learn these things.
