GENERAL
Deutsche Bahn was one of world´s best railways until 1990ies. It has declined to one of world´s worst railways due to last 40 years´ politics. You may be lucky, train runs in time. But they are very often delayed - or even don´t run. Sometimes for hours or day. So called "Replacement service" often is on bicycle speed.

So especially from and to Frankfurt Airport plan more time. X 61 bus from Südbahnhof offers a good service, but takes some more time.

Little problems always can happen. But if you run out of money or some other severe stuff, get professional help:
- at the embassy of your country,
- at Frankfurt Welfare authorities ("Sozialamt", "Sozialstation"),
- at Homeless Shelter at Frankfurt Ostpark (1 km from Ostbahnhof, stops metro U 6, tram 11, bus M 32),
- at Bahnhofsmission (railway passenger assistance) at Mannheimer Straße, Southside of Central station or
North side of bus terminal

Also police will help you, at least telling you, where to go. German Police is fair and democratic. May be, sometimes rude, if they are stressed - as any taxi driver.

- also emergency service of hospitals will help you in severe cases

If you still have some money, there are several hostels offering bed in dorms (from 14 € and also private rooms (from 35 €),

A special welcome to refugees from Ukraina, Belarus and Russia, who suffer a lot by Putin´s War and Putin´s tyranny and also to citizen of Israel and Canada. One or two friendly pets are welcome, if they are not to big. Please be aware, living in a two-room- appartment I can offer you a place to stay and a warm welcome, but no privacy in a separate room.

And also please keep smart to avoid fake news, whether they are from Putin or Trump and Musk, from Islamists or from other criminals, or just from ignorants.

I like traveling and meeting people, especially Central and Eastern Europe or Western Europe.

As I also like trains, I was fascinated in OST-WEST-EXPRESS, which travelled from Paris to Moscow in the 80ies - crossing national and system borders between East and West. A chance to meet Russian people during the ride through Ruhr district between Cologne and Dortmund, a symbol of getting across borders - or not any borders more.

So I hope Putin will calm down or his own people will send him away - best to The Hague.!

As the promise of the trains journey became true after 1989, I met many people of Eastern countries, finding some real close relations and friendships.

One of my favourite hobbies is photographing. sa, but Google changed their system. So I found my photos, but they are not yet in a good order. But you can find some treasures as my photos of Syria in 2007.

I always liked long-distance train travelling. But now it´s also a matter of protecting environment to avoid flights. So I am quite used of getting all around by bicycle, train, ferry and bus. Even to where it´s some complicated as Norway (ferry from Northern Denmark) or to Lithuania (ferry from Kiel; train by Belarus could be an option - but not under actual circumstances!). Now I am also thinking of intercontinental travelling as a passenger on freight-ships.

PHILOSOPHY

As my life presently is in a great change, but have some idea where is my road´s destination. I am thinking about sense and destination of life and going to develope. So I can say: I am on the road - in a double sense. (Though, I stay most time at Frankfurt in order to do my work)

HA-AM DORESCH TSADIK HEVRATI! Actual Israel movement: "People call for social justice!" valid all over the world, as I don´t agree the rich getting more and more, while the poor even get less and less.
I am open-minded and learned, personal relations, good friends and meeting friendly beings (human, animals, nature) is more important than material stuff. Though you need it for living.

There IS GOD. But less in the sense of traditional religions. I learned in long philosophic talks with my dad the idea, God and the universe are the same! That means: To be in respect for nature and any spirituality.

So if you have in mind just the known time and distance of what we suppose to be the universe, how can can any religious leader declare to KNOW god and his rules - except just to be in respect for nature and ANY Being.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just the usual way, being guest or being host and show you around my region Rhein-Main around Frankfurt. By the way, there are many more interesting places around Frankfurt, as Mainz - dating back to the Romans -, Darmstadt with famous Art Nouveau architecture at Mathildenhoehe or all the small historic little towns and castles at Taunus and Odenwald mountains.

Joining CS community some 12 years ago, it is a great experience meeting other Couchsurfers and finding new friends among them, whether at Frankfurt or at South Africa or South America!

I joined CouchSurfing in September 2010 and was verified in January 2011. I had some real nice guests in the recent few months and found some new friends.

Interests

As I already told, I am interested in trains and other public transport. I guess, most favourite hobby is photographing, and I hope, to show some of my pictures at public exhibitions.

Other interests are gardening (at the common gardon of our settlement block), playing board games as Settlers of Catan or Funkenschlag (an energy game), astronomy, politics.

And last not least meeting other people - and travelling. Mostly by bicycle or train (also long distance).

And not to forget: I like animals, cats most! :-)

I like to read novels, thrillers and other. Since "Public bookshelves" are installed at many places in my city - and all over the world - I mostly make use to find some reading stuff. And from time to time I a make a visit to my local book-store "Libretto" just round the corner - also to support local neighburhood business.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelling to Israel for 3 months in 1980;
the spirituality of Mount Gabriel in West Cork, Ireland, 1995;
experience of hospitality and friendlyness of local people in Central Turkey in 2007

A real great experience was hosting guests with my broken foot from February to April 2015: They were all so helpful and friendly! So Martina and Pavel took me home from hospital and helped me to get adapted to living at home again. Other guests also were really so nice - I am really grateful for the great assistance within Couchsurfing community and also finding some new friends as Ashley and Heaven, Jennifer and Daniela!

I am just learning myself. But meeting you, I could try to show you how to find good motives for photographs.

Actual pandemics force a permanent learning to find a good balance between myself and other people from infection and meeting friends and find some good way of life.
