About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see a bit more of the world, to find a different perspective for the return.

ABOUT ME

I could be considered a country girl as I grew up in a village where I knew everyones name. In many ways village life sheltered me from the wider world. At the age of 16 I started slowly working my way down the UK following a curiosity for knowledge and different things. I moved to Liverpool for college, to Nottingham for my Batchelors, I went travelling around Australia and South East Asia and on retuning to the UK got a job in London for a medical architecture practice.

London for six years satisfied my curiosity, the city in a constant state flux, thousands of people coming and going, the multiculturalsim, the exhibitions. Being a student there was wonderful, having friends in the city was even better.

I would consider myself a good listener as I think conversation is a great way to learn about life. I lack confidence with large groups of people I don´t know and I blush easily. That said once I feel comfortable I am happy to sit and talk to anyone.

Strangers always approach me for directions and somehow I wlays end up chatting to people on trains...I´m not sure what this says about me?

PHILOSOPHY

Be honest and it´s better to regret something you have done that something you haven´t.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only just signed up to couch surfing and I am currently travelling with my boyfreind (of 6 or so years) around Latin America.
I am looking to meet people along the way to get a greater understanding of Argentina through conversation, sharing food and the occasional glass of wine.
When we have a permanat address we will no doubt offer whatever space we can to others also exploring other places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as yet, this is just the beginning!

Interests

Architecture - I studied this and it is a huge part of my life. It has changed the way I see the world and how I understand materials come together. I spent around six years designing hospitals for people with mental health disorders because I wanted my work to help people. The impact of architecture on the mind/body is paramount to this type of work and my interests.

Drawing/sketching - something I have missed and will now spend more time doing.

Modern art - im a gallery addict, i think it is as important to see the art you think you like and the work you don´t, I´m always happy to be challenged.

I love the outdoors, I grew up in a tiny village in the Lake District, in the north west of England. Walking and camping led me to rock climbing which has led me to many interesting places in the world.

To relax when I was in London, I practiced yoga once a week. My gran got my started on this, she taught yoga until she was 88...a great advertisment I think!

I'm not religious but am very open minded about other´s beliefs.

I am a feminist, which is often misunderstood, one example of my mindset would be that I believe men and women should have equal maternity and paternity leave when they have a baby.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - recently, the Descendants. Historically - Crash, Unbreakable, The Royal Tenebaums.

Books
Graphic novels: Joe Sacco, Craig Thompson, Gabriel Bar & Fabian Moon
Novels: To the lighthouse, Virginia Woolf. There is something about her writing, the extension of the smallest incidents; a bell ringing in a bakery that can tell you so much about that place.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked the Anapurna circuit in Nepal, to 5416m in altitude.
Taken a boat ride on Inle Lake, in Myanmar.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would always be happy to help people learn English although I think more English speakers should learn another language.
