About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have been to all 7 continents by the time I'm 26. I've got 3 to go.

ABOUT ME

I'm still in college majoring in anthro and trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, but in the meanwhile, I'm trying to have as many different experiences as I can.

PHILOSOPHY

About 96% of the world is made up of decent people you can trust to some degree, so be someone trustworthy and trust others as well.

Also, if you chill out, I find that you have a lot more fun in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since I'm currently studying abroad and also don't have my own place yet, I don't have a couch to offer. But if you're at all near me at any time where ever I am, I'd be happy to show you around some of my favorite places where I live and get to know you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only surfed once in Berlin, but it was a great experience and I'm hoping to do it again as soon as possible!

Interests

I love going to concerts. Live music in any form is almost always better than recordings in my opinion. I love the atmosphere of a bunch of strangers connected by the enjoyment of the same thing.

I play violin - classical mostly - but I'm also trying to learn some fiddling. I also sing a bit and play in a Gamelan ensemble (Indonesian percussion) at my college.

I also really like cooking, baking especially. I have a bit of a sweet tooth so my favorite recipes usually involve chocolate, but recently I've been trying to branch out. I'm trying to collect a lot of recipes for so-called ethnic food and learn how to make them. While in France, I'm trying to learn how to make a decent crêpe.

I love a good story - so reading and watching movies are two of my favorite things to do.

I really like hiking and kayaking, but these two things I don't do nearly often enough and wish I did more.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not too hard to please in any of these categories. I pretty much like all music except for American pop-country. I pretty much like movies that are well done and some that aren't - anything from romantic comedies to French new wave. As for books, I'm currently working my way through Haruki Murakami's stuff.

Here's a list of some favorites, in no particular order:

Music: Franz Ferdinand, MIA, Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, Justin Timberlake, Andrew Bird, Yann Tiersen, Dvorak, Bloc Party, Debussy, MSTRKRFT, Kanye West, Girltalk, Ben Folds, Iron & Wine

Movies: La Haine, The Departed, Lord of the Rings, Chungking Express, In Good Company, Breakfast Club, Paris je t'aime, Au revoir les enfants, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton

Books: After Dark (Murakami), Kafka on the Shore (Murakami), Lord of the Rings, Cat's Eye (Atwood), anything by David Sedaris, Neverwhere (Gaiman), Good Omens (Prachett & Gaiman), His Dark Materials (Pullman)
