About Me

CURRENT MISSION

In 2019:

Well, this is a very good question...

What i wrote in 2008:
To happily enjoy the meaning of life while searching for it.

ABOUT ME

I was a Buddhist monk up to some 10 months ago when I left the monastic life after 7.5 years.
This was a joyful choice that slowly over a few years gradually matured until it resulted in what turned out to be a wonderful harmonious decision. Most people in the tradition I belonged to (The Forest Sangha) stayed for a few years in the training and then moved on to continue to practice in lay-life. In some ways this shift has felt less dramatic than i first thought, but strangely enough yet more wonderful than I had imagined.

I am so very happy and grateful about the years when I was a monk! So much can be said about that. And gratefulness is now also what I feel for having the opportunity to continue this strange adventure of being alive. It is a wonderful thing to share stories and insights and to hear how life feels like for someone else than oneself.

I have meet so many good, kind, interesting people the last months. In Scotland, England, Wales I visited festivals, ashrams, temples, parties, collectives, eco-projects and stayed in the homes of so many people. I do not know a single soul in Ireland though, so that is why I came back to couchsurfing after 10 years,

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Wrote this in 2008:
I like the idea of CS a lot being interested in eco-village movement for 7 years now. I see the same foundation of openness and a wish to create innovative healthy social alternatives. Very inspiring.

Interests

I will now write a few words about my interests (in 2018) and beneath this I leave the things i wrote 10 years ago, back in 2008 :)

My interests are still enormously diversified, but perhaps in a slightly calmer more coherent way.

Meditation (Surprise surprise), spirituality, science, philosophy, novels, and friendship!! I like people very much! All kinds of people. There is great things to learn from sharing the variety of ones individual life experiences. I was during my last 4 years in the monastery the monk responsible for welcoming hundreds of people visiting as guests. I also like animals a lot too. (One such friend, an amazing cat named Mister Wigglesworth is in this very moment persistently mewing outside my door :D ).

I was for many years because of studying humanecology in Lund University into eco-village development. I now travel, visiting all kind of communities, ashrams, retreat-centers, eco-villages, monasteries you name it. I am very interested to, in my working life, continue to contribute with this kind of developments.

Right now I enjoy enjoy watching movies. (Because I did not do that in the monastery for over 7 years (with the exception of documentaries). I have read far too many books and am still doing it. I lately I have checked out Anime, Manga, Comics, Visual Novels and Interactive Fiction. Also I am still very interested in computers, and always fixes or improve other peoples devices for them. I started a international hacker group when I was 13 years old (D-mob), and even in the monasteries I ended up repairing computers since this was important for our offices/administration.

This is what i wrote back in 2008:

Philosophy, Psychology (especially psychology of happiness/kindness and neurological perspectives on meditation). Hmm, social relationships is one of the thing in the world i like most. Some of my friends are professors others are punkrockers or metalheads. One is a metalhead-professor :-) I'm very interested in the linux movement since many years now and in the file-sharing movement as well. For 7 years i have been into the eco-village movement and i love to grow organic food. Because of my studies in psychology and because of personal interest i quite regularly live in monasteries with Catholic or Buddhist monks and nuns. Some of the most loving and intelligent and non-judgemental persons i have ever met in my entire life lived behind the monastery walls which initially was something that caught me with total suprise. Haha, and now i'm hooked and stay in those places far to much :-) (Myself i have no clearly defined religious belief, i see beauty and ugliness in all religions. I however consider myself very spiritual in some ways at least. I started to meditate when i was 11 years old) I also like to go to all kind of music festivals a lot.
