Hello! My name is Ed and I’m a 27 year old from London. I have recently (1st May 2025) quit my job of 5 & 1/2 years as a firefighter in London to go travelling!

My end destination is Manila Philippines where I plan to become a volunteer firefighter(i love my job), however I am going to have a break and travel there over the course of a year country by country.

Starting from London working my way through west and east Europe then the middle east, central asia and east asia. I aim to avoid taking planes where possible.

I'm excited to meet interesting people along the way and make new friends and I think Couchsurfing would be a great way to do this. I've used this platform once before and had a really positive experience so I'm excited to use it again!

Staying in hostels is fun but often I only end up meeting other travellers and I just end up partying too much and I don’t get a good feel of the place I’m visiting.

I love the outdoors! I am very into hiking, rock climbing and wild camping. When I’m not working I also like to skateboard to the beach with my headphones in and a good playlist!
If I’m not outdoors I like to relax and sunbathe/watch tv. I enjoy playing pool (billiards) and going for a night out with my friends. Im quite picky with clubs but if I like the music I will dance all night! However I also am a big fan of a more chill night at some pubs/bars.
I’m not very good but I love playing chess and am always keen for a game.
I also love trying new things and foods!

I read very sporadicly, the only book titles I can remember that ive read are (last week) John Grisham “rainmaker” and Leo Tolstoy War and Peace which I read about five years ago but really enjoyed.

I’m happy to cook or help with the odd tasks around the house. I used to work as a labourer on building sites so I’m happy to do some gardening or help out around the house. I make a mean spaghetti bolognese!

I’ve been told I am good company! Ive been raised to always be polite, clean and respectful.
