CURRENT MISSION
Try to connect more with the people around me.
ABOUT ME
It's been a while since I updated this I notice!
I finished my degree - I'm now a junior doctor - not as glamourous as you'd imagine. I'm more a form filler than anything! I shouldn't complain though, it can be very enjoyable.
In my past life I drifted into and out of a few things. I enjoyed being an English teacher in Seoul, Seville and Birmingham for a few years.
I got married a year ago to my wonderful wife - see if you can find her on CS!
PHILOSOPHY
I try to do the following:
Once I've decided to do something, I'll try my best.
To try to make the best of myself and at the same time do something that will help those around me.
To enjoy life, in whatever direction it takes me.
To try and understand myself, who I am, where I am going, what my place is in the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I have only visited people. But, I've mentioned my experiences to many people and have tried to encourage them to join in!
Our house is open for guests! Message me!
I'll be going to CS meetups in Leicester to get into the CS community a bit more.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I spent 3 weeks in Argentina, and stayed with three people, and had very varied, but excellent experiences with each.
I was in Liverpool for two weeks studying Asylum seeker health as part of my degree - an interesting and rewarding experience. I stayed with some wonderful people who were generous enough to share their homes and lives with me.
Interests
Oooh. Lots. In no particular order. Currently in a community choir, with about 50 others, where we sing songs in various languages from all over the world. I'm part of the new Leicester African drumming group. I can play the piano, but haven't done so for a while now. I also try to play the guitar, but I can't say I got beyond learning a few chords.
Phew, what else... languages - I'm trying to learn Spanish, but it's not one of my strong points. It hasn't stopped me from trying though. Cooking - I love experimenting in the kitchen, and I'll cook you a great curry if I have time.
I'm in a great friendly football team in Leicester - The mighty FC Kolectivo Victoria. Why not come down for a kickabout on Sunday mornings?http://www.facebook.com/login/setashome.php?ref=login#!/pages/FC-Kolektivo-Victoria/199020316797628

Music, Movies, and Books
I genrally enjoy something that makes me think. I think my favourite authors are Primo Levi and Haruki Murakami. Levi's tales of the second world war and his time in concentration camps, and incredibly harrowing, and moving at the same time. The main thing I like about Murakami is his style, somewhere between reality and a strange and distant place, he understands humanity and writes about it in a creative, cloud-like way.
Musically, I like more or less anything. I'm currently listening to Ska (The Specials, Skatalites), Indie (Camera Obscura, Belle & Sebastian), Hip Hop (Cyprus Hill, Grandmaster Flash) Rock (pixies, yeah yeah yeahs, jeff buckley, weezer, kinks) but this is just the tip of the iceberg.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I held the football world cup in Korea in 2002! Does that count?
Teach, Learn, Share
Like I mentioned above, I love cooking - I can make lots of things, but my friends speak highest of my curries. I'll let you decide...
If you speak Spanish, you'll be more than welcome to stay if you can tollerate my bad Spanish in return.
