Finished traveling around in 30 countries, so now I wait for the culture to come to me !! ;)

ABOUT ME

My wife and I are in the middle of our 'trip around the world'. We sold or gave up everything we had, and moved ... first to Europe. We got a place to live in London, England and are tried to, slowly but surely, get to know PEOPLE and places throughout Europe.

After 3 years, we moved to Mexico for a while ... on the Caribbean, near Tulum.

We do not watch television but try to keep educated about things that matter between people. Personally I find time spent watching TV is time wasted that you will never get back. :)

I strongly dislike what I call the "Wham-bam, thank you Spain!" and the gross concept of thinking you know a place or culture because you spent 2 days on a given city. SLOW DOWN... Unpack! talk to people, eat their food, hear their songs. DRINK their drinks. ;)

I'm not against tourists... I love to take quick trips. I just don't claim I know French people after a weekend in Paris :) Which is why I cycled through France for 5 weeks and BARELY got a glimpse ! :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have an extra room available that we rent out visitors to help out with the rent, but when possible (read when we have no paying guests) is available to CouchSurfers !

We honestly like the CS model and we try to host when possible. We are very interested about learning about people and their experiences... SPECIALLY those who like to travel ! :)

We will give you lots of great advise about things to see and to around the Riviera Maya.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We hosted several people in London and we really liked it! :)
We are now opening our space in Mexico to see who decides to drop by.

We also finished a cycle tour of Europe (2011). We started in Norway and finished in Spain, staying with local host in EVERY country. One of the best trip of our lives !

We also made a 100 day trip in SE Asia (2012), where we were also able to make some great friends through CS !

In 2013, we are going back to the Americas for some good food and good times..

We feel very lucky at the moment :)

Interessi

Nature, outdoor activities. I'm into 'conspiracies', which I just find intriguing. I climb high places, I walk long distances. I take pictures often. I am recently a diver, and would like to take on kiteboarding, perhaps.

Vilija, my wife, is into Yoga and everything that 'brings balance' into her life :) She is also one of the best photographers I know and a great artist.

Musica, film e libri

Things with MEANING. I like movies, books, and even music to be memorable ... to 'remember' movies and books. If you can't remember if you have seen a movie or not, it was clearly not worth your time.

In short, this space is too small to list 'the good ones'.

Hiked 9 hours to see an volcano erupting at my feet.

Climbed a mountain or two... made good friends ! :)

I fell in love with my wife.

I snowboarded beautiful mountains in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado and Idaho.

I cycled from Norway to Spain !!! :)

Crashed weddings in Bali!

Ended up, accidentally, in the press section of the British Film Awards (The British 'Oscars') and saw all the 'celebrities' from handshake distance. Kinda boring, actually.

Survived rush hour while driving a scooter in Vietnam.

I have lived a good life and have many memories I trasure. I'll be happy to tell you guys about them all in person :)

I like to research 'Alternative knowledge'. Stuff you don't see on TV but other people have researched and written books or produced information about. I can talk intersting stuff for hours, from mildly amusing to far out crazy stuff. It's a hobby of mine. I am a certified English teacher and a Snowboarding Instructor as well as a Professional Photographer, an Advanced Deep Water Diver and a UK Licensed Electrician !

We like to be good hosts and good guests, and when possible if our skills are useful, we like to give back to our hosts :)
